These reviews are for a version with the quad core i7 cpu not this one which is a dual core i5.

if i was buying, would rather pay the little extra to get it from scan then risking £900+ at an unknown etailer.

Pay by credit card, no loss to you if the retailer goes wrong. Anything more than £100 should always go on credit for the added protections.

Most people don't use laptop for gaming thus mojority will see this as cold, but for someone who is after a decent gaming laptop this is a very decent laptop with v.good graphic card. I admit that cpu could be more powerfull but i5 is still a decent one. Hot from me!

don't have a credit card, even tho I've been reading that visa debit cards offer the same protection as visa credit card I wouldn't want to take the risk.

also I'd rather not have to go through the hassle of trying to get the money back, when for £21 can get it from a known and reputable company(tho some may complain about scans customer service/returns department, I haven't had any issuses the times I had to use it).

I got this laptop back when MESH were selling it cheap here And the i5 460m is by no means a processing slouch, with my laptop I have been able to play almost every ps2 game on pcsx2 I have tried at almost full speed. And I have been able to encode HD content into x264 using handbrake in real time. Also although the i5 460m is dual core each core has hyperthreading so many applications will see it as a quad core (even had to fix my fallout 3 ini file to get around the problem it has with quad core processors.)

And not having an i7 means it keeps frosty with the epic cooling system it has on board (If you plan on using the turbo fan a lot like I do invest in a decent pair of noise cancelling headphones, I use a pair of goldring ns1000's and with them on I cannot hear the fan.)

Also the lack of bdrom in this version is a bit of a drawback but you could always get an external drive or use daemon tools.

This laptop is an absolute beast for the price, its probably the best gaming laptop you can get for under £1k with the only downside being the slow HDDs (5,400rpm). Aside from the screen size its pretty much identical spec to the HP Envy 17 which is going for about £1,400. So a good price for a good laptop.
