Awesome price, heat added. I've just ordered a 500GB WD from ebuyer for £47.99, only because the Samsung that came with my E520 is so damn noisy i won't get a Samsung thanks to the bad experience, noise being the main factor and WD being almost silent.

Am i right in assuming that this gets hot therefore the reason for the fan?

Don't expect next day delivery from them - all my orders have recently been bumped over to the next day or the day after due to the 'warehouse being extraordinarily busy'. This has also been experienced by several of my friends / colleagues.

If you complain about the delivery delay (given that you are paying for next day courier and you have been assured it will arrive next day) they will tell you 'It is next day delivery from point of dispatch'.... Great.

Having said that, this is an extremely good price.

The drive temps are in line with other drives and there's no real need for the fan. It also adds noise. Scan have a truckload of these that cost very little. It just makes the deal look more appealing when compared to other retailers.

How do we sign up to "the hexus free postage offer"? I've Googled Scan and Hexus and figured out if you join the Hexus forum you can get free delivery but there seems to be some confusion over how you do it and what is eligible (is it orders over £50 excluding VAT?)

Your help appreciated.

Depends on which model Samsung drive you had. These are the lastest F1 models which runs quiet and cooler.

I didn't need the cooler for the drive last time i got this - but I used it elsewhere in my system (the vga kicks a lot of heat off!) so voted hot - as my system isn't now :)

Just seen this at Scan.
Got to be a hot deal.
Want to use it as an external drive with the £6 cable from LED Shop posted on here previously
Wil there be any problem in recognising the size of the drive?
I can get free P&P so very tempting
#12
I got a 750GB Sammy the other month with one of these free fans, I chucked the fan straight in the bin. I love the drives though, I've had about 6 of them over the past few years and they've all been perfect. Quiet and reliable.

Anyone know if Hexus works for people in Northern Ireland?
#14

#15
You will now need to wait till midnight of the day when you reach 20 posts in order for the database at Scan to recognise your registration

Not much use If it's a one day only deal!! :x

Indeed, The offer started on Hexus and remains the best and most longstanding of the Scan forum offers due to their close relationship with Scan. So it's well worth signing up to Hexus for future deals

Done :whistling: Doesn't help me get the drive today though :viking:

Regarding the "free delivery offer" remember that it isn't as quick as if you were to pay for it. I.e. it normally takes at least 2 working days rather than just the 1 (if you were to pay for delivery). But you are getting it free at least, and quicker than ebuyer's 1 week free delivery.

I've 2 of the original versions of these 500GB samsungs (about 6 months old) and not had any problems - both very quiet and cool. The cooler is just to make it look better really, it's not needed at all on the drive.

Been running one for the last couple of months without a hitch. Wanted a 2nd one to make a mirror. Not this week by the looks of it.

Not true. Paid-for-shipping orders are not prioritised over free shipping orders (except for Saturday deliveries). They are all treated the same. Dispatch time is dependent on stock and volume of orders. It's not a guaranteed next-day service regardless of whether you pay for shipping or not.

Sure, there can be instances where an order with shipping paid for dispatches quicker than a free shipping order, but the reverse is just as probable.

Can't find a link at the moment, it's on the Scan forum somewhere.

I ordered a monitor on a Sunday night, and got it delivered on the Tuesday, so effectively next day free delivery.

The Today Only offers change around mid afternoon, so you'll have a chance to buy until then.
It says on the website it changes at 12 midday, but it doesn't :)

Isn't one offered to choose a delivery day when ordering with Scan?
