I have a near religious deduication to my music collection, the films can die to be honest. Does it not scare the crap out of people to lose a personal anthology? Mine dates back to 1997 and I want it all in a bomb proof shelter.
Buy two and raid them or back one up to the other then?

You're bang on with that. I had a massive hard drive failure a few years back and lost EVERYTHING. 8 years of digital photos, my entire music collection, and worst of all - all the music my band had ever recorded. All gone (except for a few dodgy c90 cassettes!). I felt like throwing myself off a building.
But lesson learned. I now back up to 2 internal hard drives and one external. I am NOT going to let that happen again.
Then again, what if there was a fire? Or a roberry? I might have to have a re-think....
Oh, and good price for the drive. Heat added.
Not it's a PC Hard Drive with a PS3 game. They do it with all sorts of stuff, like buy a PC monitor and get a free wing mirror for a Ford Focus...

Haha! I could do with a Ford Focus mirror

Yeah years back I lost everything after someone took a screwdriver to one of my hard drives... about 5 years of digital photos, scans, programs, music I made and my old school and college work I was totally gutted.... now my pics, docs, music and films are religiously mirrored on a server and my desktop, with the pics docs and music also on a portable external. which I keep away from the house (re - your scenareo ;-) - + some portability of data)
Tell me about I had a Samsung F3 1Tb hdd fail and it took weeks to get replacement.

They made me wait 2 months and then offered me a £10 refund, that's how bad they are!
