Scan -- Crucial M550 256GB Solid State Drive SSD £86.74 +£4.57 Next Day Delivery £91.31

£91.31 @ Scan
Supposedly better than the 840 Evo according to userBenchmark, and at a similar price point now. This is just about the cheapest this has ever been, including black friday deals on it. Read More

Does everyone here hate scan.co.uk, or am I missing something!

sorry man, 256GB SSD is sold for ~£70

Amazon were selling the MX100 256 for £59.99 during their Black Friday Week......they seemed to have loads as repeated the Lightning Deal no fewer than 5 times, so I anticipate that is likely to become available again in the Dec/January sales.

Both eBuyer and Amazon were selling the M500 240 for £64.98 only days ago.

I feel you'd be mad to take the slightly better M550 at this price-point, and with what is likely to be coming in the next days. Heck - you can get Samsung Evos at a better price even when not big sales.

Not all of us - I buy from Scan regularly and have had excellent service over 15 years. Sorry, but I'm voting this cold because it is a very, very cold deal.

Sure I saw a 256gb for £64 this week. Cold.

There is a big difference between the m500 @£64 and the m550. This is the cheapest this particular drive has ever been. userBenchmark puts this drive almost exactly on a par with the 840 pro in terms of speed, which is £124 on amazon right now. Do you really think that is going to get to £65 in January!? I do see I am fighting a losing battle, though.

I think the MX100 will be £59.99 again in January from Amazon (with assurance that it's returnable if the worst occurs) - for the difference in performance between the MX100 and M550, paying a third more would be absolute lunacy IMHO.

The 550 is never priced well as it's on it's way out - Crucial can mass-produce MX100s with near equal performance a lot cheaper.
