Classic game review of Rocket Knight, looks alright.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJTE0Pv5w-Q

PS. It currently has a price of £9.99 on PSN so the blog is incorrect, hopefully they haven't got the sale price wrong as well.
#4
The price on Final Fight looks good. I refuse to believe that I paid £7.99 for it, it must have been on sale before. Everything else is a bit lacklustre. TV Show King is of dubious value even at 79p
#5
some good deals & glad to see a fair few psp offers!

i'll be getting half minute hero (really liked the demo) & maybe MSG if i can sell my disc version (prefer playing on my psp go). then the split second pack & maybe rocket man
#6
thanks fp - an early update this week! Gives me time to do a bit of research into the games on psp to see if anything would be up my street.

Dealspwn have had a couple of articles on this title:

In the latter I commented that (from the Trial version that is also on PlayStation Store; File Size: 429MB [1 player; 113KB minimum save size; HDTV screen resolution: 720p, 1080i, 1080p; DUALSHOCK®3; Network Features]) the game reminds me of "Jazz Jackrabbit".

It did start at £9.99 on 12 May 2010... hmmm... we can but hope the sale price is listed at £2 more than it will be available on Wednesday! :)

You are very welcome. If I understand the situation correctly, this is a set of discounted items in addition to the usual update this coming Wednesday.

What kind of gaming genres do you like playing?

If there is nothing in this set of offers we may be able to suggest something suitable from the other selection of PlayStation Portable, PSOne (where compatible with the PSP), &/or "minis".

I like problem solving/puzzle type games - echoshift, lumines, locoroco, fading shadows, pixeljunk monster. Not into shooting/fighting and need more practice at sporty stuff/driving to get much enjoyment from it, so only play those in short bursts! Also find it hard to remember all of the command combinations for some games and to press the buttons in the right order fast enough - wasn't brought up as a gamer so it doesn't seem to come naturally!
#10
Just finished the demo of Rocket Knight and it is not bad, certainly alright for £3.99
Music is very annoying but thankfully there is support for custom soundtracks or at least there was in the demo.
I will buy for £3.99 but if the price is more than that then I may pass.
#11
It certainly isn't as good as the christmas offers a couple of weeks back. Im going to have to try a few demos/watch some previews as i dont know much about the games on offer. Anyone got any recommendations?
#12
I hope Pinball Dreams & Fantasies are on... Nice one poster!
#13
nothing for me in this sale, my wallet is happy
#14
Thanks :)
#15
Cheers fp, I always appreciate you making the effort. Probably going to get TV Show King for my sister and Hannah Montana for me!

Still amazed at the chutzpah of 2K charging that much for the Mafia II DLC, though the Bioshock deal isn't terrible..

None of the games in the sale really match what you are after, but I can recommend a few titles to try (most of which have demos available on the store).

Critter Crunch - v cute puzzle game
Pixeljunk Eden - everything the Pixeljunk team makes is worth playing, imo
Pixeljunk Shooter - although a shooting game, it is slow paced and requires a lot of thought
Flower - just beautiful
Trash Panic (be warned, although addictive, this puzzle game is really tough)
Flow - not one for everyone, but visually impressive and 'stress free'
The Last Guy - Like 'snake' but played out on Google Earth, with monsters. Very clever.

annoys me that theres rarely any Singstar deals :-(
#18
Thanks fp, voted hot :)

None of the others grab me, but I'll get A Bug's Life as I remember the game being enjoyable at the time. :)

TV Show King has got to be worth a punt at 79p!
#20
Just incase anyone isnt aware - Angry Birds is now available to download as a 'mini' from the PS Store.

£2.49 - not on offer or anything, but with all the hype surrounding the game at the moment, its worth checking out if you dont have it on your phone.
#21
Does anyone still play Crash Commandos? I'm sick of buying PSN games that are multiplayer orientated only to find either nobody plays it anymore or they have shut the servers down.

I haven't played it for over a year, but I will give it a go later tonight, and let you know if I find a game easily.
#23
heat added fp....but what a poor sale from scee...was hoping for a few quid off castle crashers. Bionic Commando Rearmed should be at least half price given it is a old title with the new one coming out soon.

Rarely? Surely you mean never, and to add insult to injury they've just increased the song prices. By all means charge the higher price for new additions but across the board is taking the **** as the license for existing tracks has already been paid. And give us something decent to sing to too, not more second rate boyband guff and crappy Europop.

Good initial post by the way, think I'll give TV Show King a punt and th Split/Second DLC :)

A little discussion about this title in the "European PlayStation Store Special Offers until 19 January 2011 + Permanent Price Reductions (from 12 January 2011) * "Angry Birds" minis title available now too... £2.49 *" deal listing; comments #87 to 93 (inclusive).

Like the last update, nothing for me again, nothing great here.

Thanks for the effort FP, as always.
#30
I've got the Angry Birds off the psn...wouldn't recommend as it can become jittery and has frozen a couple if times only been playing around 40 mins worth too. £2.49 is WAY too much imo.

You'll probably like Cuboid then, block puzzler with dead easy controls. Gets quite hard as you progress, I'm stuck on number 53/66 I think it is right now. Not brilliant value at £7.99 though.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's not as good as it is on Mame and also you can get all the trophies in about an hour leaving no replay value. Oh and also already there's very few people playing the american one.

Nice :D

Vandal Hearts is well worth £4 for anyone that likes turn-based tactics(it's a good introduction to the genre), think of it as a Final Fantasy Tactics Lite. Doesn't hold a candel to the original Vandal Hearts games but worth a play through.

If you like it you could always go back to the good old Front Mission 3(now that is a great game!) which is in the PSone section of PSN for £3.99, worth every penny.

Yes I got it last time it was £3.99.

* GTI Club+ (was £7.99/EUR9.99 now £3.99/EUR4.99)
* Rocket Knight (was £7.99/EUR12.99 now £3.99/EUR6.49)

If I *HAD* to buy anything it would probably be those 2. But didn't find either demo particularily outstanding, GTI Club Demo was one of my first downloads from the PSN store

Hey SlyPie - I just booted up Crash Commandos and looked for an online game. There were only six people playing the game worldwide, and they were in two different three player rooms.

There is a short(ish) mission mode, and you can set up matches against bots, but I don't think you will find much online multiplayer action. I'd steer clear if I were you.

Games like this need a permanent price reduction to around £2-£3, to increase number of users. Not to mention increase profits. Can't see many buyers @ £8. £4 is worth it though for the single player mode alone - great game.

Cuboid is another stunner, but overpriced @ £12 (£8 for the game and £4 for the DLC). So glad I got it for free with my PS+ subscription ;)

Rocket Knight is £5.10 not £3.99 as stated in the blog.
I think I will pass.

Not sure if fanpages mentioned it, but I know he would be interested:
Costume Quest Bundle for £10 or £8 i you have PSN+ - seems a good game

Looking to get that and Rocket Knight in the sale...

BTW Deathspank is good!!!
