thanks - just let my parents know about the 50% off part as they are flying in to Glasgow next month. Voted hot and rep given!
#3
For 50% off, official flight confirmation can be
* Airline ticket
* Invoice printed in colour (no photocopies)
* The downloaded Internet booking form accompanied by photo ID (No e-mail confirmations accepted)

See http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/promotions/fd96f89ac35ce7410098a4c7c9f7f313.html. I bumped into the 50% one yesterday while looking at different rail offers.

In light of other comments, interesting that Full details of any offer should be provided by the Airline Company on purchase of flight tickets.

Glad to help out.......anyone travelling to Glasgow, please remember Glasgow Prestwick (not even in Glasgow,as in the name) and Glasgow international ( just at the outskirts of Glasgow ) are miles apart....

As relatives from down south, booked to Glasgow Prestwick, for easy access to get us to pick them up :giggle: .......... but we live about 10mins away from Glasgow International,so they had booked to the wrong airport.......well what can i say......they are from down south :giggle:

This deal been quite for a long time, my girlfriend used to travel to Glasgow from Aberdeen and back when she used to fly to Riga (Latvia).
Now it's back again, free ride because of new route to Kaunas. Will save our time and ££££'s traveling from LV to LT, and times are much better :)

i sold my car on ebay and met the buyer at glasgow prestwick
he thought it was near glasgow as well:oops:

anyway i got the train back to hamilton (via the real glasgow)and the ticket collector asked me if i had my boarding card as the fare was half price with it.
i told her i had just thrown it into the bin on the platform and she gave me the half price fare anyway:whistling: :giggle:

Why is it called Glasgow Prestwick anyway?

Never used Prestwick, only Glasgow,is the train station in or near the airport ( Prestwick) :?

Never got the point in calling it Glasgow Prestwick. It used to be simply Pretwick International Airport.

The train station is directly across the road from the airport which is accessed via a covered walkway

I occasionally see people buying tickets to Prestwick on my commuter train, and the inspector usually checks if they're flying somewhere, asks to look at their booking and then gives them the 50% off, whether they knew about it or not.

Which is nice of them.
