Saltire yourself for St Andrews day!

4
On November 30 the world celebrates St Andrew’s Day, Scotland’s national day. All a bit of fun, upload a picture on facebook and saltire yourself. Probably going to get loads of cold hits.

Scotland's attractions for FREE! St Andrew's day weekend

4
Many Historic Scotland sites, as well as other attractions are offering free entry to celebrate St Andrews day. Sorry if this is a duplicate. I searched but couldn't find another similar post.

Fantastic! Thanks for reminding
thank u
The Zoo was brilliant last year, was absolutely freezing but we still went along, word of warning to anyone that wants to go tho, the queues were massive and the place was absolutely mobbed.

The penguin parade was packed, we pushed the kids to the front and stood behind the people who were standing beside them.

The park was closing at 4.30 or something like that, we left about 3.45, the queue at that time was all the way along the street.

I'm sure at the penguin parade the girl who was announcing them said they had something like 30000 people through the door already that day.
Thanks for the heads up :-)

there are also buses going from princes street that go past the zoo. i know because my mate lives 10 minutes from there and works in the sykes building :)

might be helpful for people who don't drive like me, plus parking will be a nightmare on a free day. i'm getting the train to haymarket then the bus to the zoo.

Yeah, fair point. Not everyone has a car =/

I was heading out of town past the zoo today and it took a good 10 minutes to do half a mile by car. It looked ridiculously busy - people streaming across the road, covering the stairs at the entrance waiting to get in.

I'll guess your friend either does trees, Motorola, Proctor and Gamble or something else, but using a language other than English. :)

The zoo parking situation is a bit of a nightmare on busy days. Might be easier doing the park and ride from the airport.

Parking costs about a fiver I think. When the zoo/holiday inn car park overflow, cars are sent into the Sykes building car park across the road. This make a right mess of the traffic flow as there's a man in a hi-vis coat collecting the money on the way in.
