personally service at toolstation has really gone down the pan recently

please note this is only from personal experience (however i make approx 2 - 4 orders from either toolstation or screwfix or both a week) - obviously depending on who is selling cheaper item

my experience at the mo

if you need something next day - there is no choice - only screwfix

if you don't mind waiting approx 7 - 10 days and the items cheaper which it quite often is then go for toolstation

Ive been finding the Screwfix trade counters quite handy for things I need asap.

Some of the smaller cheaper items like nuts and bolt packages/crimp connectors etc from Toolstation are those cheapy Silverline items. If I had known that before I would have gone straight to screwfix as they don't stock any silverline rubbish at all. Other than that Toostation is spot on!

Also Screwfix have had that clearout since they opened up shop lol

Pardon me but in your haste toshare the shear raw joy of being a chandler you dropped your comma here,I think it fell from between "BEST" and "SHOP".

Tongue in cheek, no offence meant ;-)

I'm afraid the people at my local Screwfix trade counter a right grumpy so-and-so's. And every time I go in there they don't have the item in stock so have to order it. I've finally sussed that it's quicker to order online (cheaper too) and it gets delivered straight to my house!

Oh dear I think that we have a dreaded case of "Pot Kettle Black" here!
a) toshare - two words maybe?
b) shear - I don't think that he was going to Screwfix to cut the grass was he? You meant to type sheer didn't you? Yes of course you did LOL!
c) comma here,i think - he might have dropped the comma but then likewise you dropped the space! Touché as they say at the Screwfix epée counter!

I use both trade counters in Avonmouth/Bristol. Screwfix and Toolstation. Service is roughly the same, perhaps a more smiley welcome at screwfix by the pleasant girl who works at avo screwfix.
Big advantage of toolstation is that the website lets you check if your local store has it in stock. As stated above screwfix seem to have an argos mentality these days - huge catalogue and many items - we'll order that for you sir - really annoying as you can't check stock in advance.
Screwfix can take the p**s over prices. Recently they has gel knee pads down from £24 to £16. However they were the same one's in ALDI for under £5 - defo the same even down to the tread pattern on the knee front.
Also screwfix surround you with manager's offers - recently a 40 mm ratchet strap was £7.99, barely worth £2.99 IMHO.
Screwfix is now too big and has lost the edge on pricing due to it's massive catalogue (which is a useful range it has to be said)., hence Toolstation being able to make a successful entry into the market. That screwfix has significant competition can only be good.:whistling:
