I looked at this product and saw a vent for my driving frustrations.
Looks easily mountable onto parcel shelf to provide an outlet to slow/middle lane/blind/inconsiderate/non-indicating/yellow box filling drivers.
Perhaps not the cheapest find but it was the only reputable seller i could so that mods wouldn't delete the post.

It can be both fun and informative and can be powered by batteries or power supply.

* Program letters, numbers and symbols into any message you like
* Display up to 60 letters in total when programmed fully
* Simple keyboard message input
* 26 pre-programmed messages for added enjoyment
* Built-in digital clock function
* Suitable for wall hanging or self standing with its removable stand
* 3 different brightness levels

Not sure what the law would have to say, but it seems the same as those signs that saw "queue caution" to me. (admittedly they are not on your parcel shelf, nor in your car.)

There are vouchers for maplin over £75 minimum spend so if your buying other stuff don't forget to check those out

Pretty sure there is a bylaw prohibiting that kind of use.

Here's a topic on the lawfulness of these http://www.5ive-o.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20260 I think the point is if it scrolls or flashes then it's considered illegal as rear lights should be fixed and also only red.

I also do not know if there's a way of converting the car's 12v to the required 6v. Also you would have difficulty displaying appropriate messages at appropriate times as it is not operated by remote control. Something like http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1147 would be more ideal

Q) Does the spec mean that 26 separate messages, each of up to 60 characters long can be programmed in and played sequentially? - Rod

A) Not exactly, there are 26 messages already programmed in, which are permanent, there is then the facility to program a message of your choice up to 60 characters long.

So only really one message can be used.

I think I will save my money and stick with lowering the window and throwing my small change at the cars that bug me.

We bought one for our Staff kids xmas party from Maplins for £34.99. They have gone up in price. The downside to it is you can only program one thing into it. It is then a ball ache to keep going back to it to put something else into it which takes time. Crap idea for the car then. I take it you weren't being serious. You don't sound like an idiot.;-)

yea it is a bit tragic about the only one programmable message unless you have a passenger to set up each message. But the main point was a product like this or this one as there are better deals in other websites which aren't accepted by hukd yet
