I was in asda and just picked up a reader/writer that does standard SD and SDHC cards for only 75p.

This beats the one I got from Poundland as it writes to the card too - most other cheapos seem to be readers only.

Seems like decent build quality and quite handy for putting in a bag for holidays.

Cheapest online is £2.99 plus £5.49 delivery!

I've never come across a card reader that doesn't write. Or have I missed something?

My old one definitely doesn't write, which used to be really annoying when I wanted to clear room on it.

Mine doesn't write and it is because when you push the card in it also slides the lock tab forward !

Had the same issue. Cost me less than 1p of tape to fix it :p

This is a great price, voted hot. But my nearest asda is miles away.

Does the Poundland one do SDHC?

I too have a poundland card reader that doesn't seem to let me write to it, it just says it appears to be write protected, I've checked the little tab and it's not!

Wonder if theres an issue with the poundland SD Card Readers?

Nope, it reads & writes fine in the camera and in my lovely new Asda one, but not in the Poundland one.

On closer inspection, I think that the Poundland one does have a tab that flicks the write protect tab down - how annoying!

I've had a cheap one that didn't write once. It did clearly say on the box 'SD card Reader' but I assumed it would write as well, apparently not, lol.

Nice find here though.

Ive got a white one from Poundworld rather than Poundland and that is SDHC compatible.

Yeah me too, at 75p this is ok, but below that 70p barrier would really sweeten the deal for me:thumbsup:

I've had 3 of these now , 2 have failed within weeks , the 3rd seems to be ok at the moment .

Hi,Poundlands near me,theres a few SD cardreaders.I got one thats white, you put card in the side, not the end & as SDHC etc wrote on the package. That reads & writes micro SDHC card in a adapter.

To the left as you go in ;-)

I found mine in the hardware bit with all of the other £1 or similar items. Maybe you rich southerners don't get the same perks as us poor nothern folk

price online is a lot less than you quote - so long as you het it from HK sites like LED shop or dealextreme

My poundland one allows me to write, although it is correct that if you don't put the card in absolutely square it does move the tab to locked. It also doesn't help that the cheap SD cards don't have very good locking tabs, whereas the better ones have a positive action that isn't affected by cheap readers.

i went to poundland today and yes i did buy a sd/mmc reader. It says a reader but it does write too! and the good thing is that it reads SDHC too. if you cannot get one in ASDA, go to poundland and grab urself one :P. i brought the one look like a usb stick not the one look like a usb reader

must be all the moving parts??????????????????
Ha ha.

Bought a poundland one to try a year or so ago.
It is about 3 times faster at writing than my PCMCIA card reader.
Works with SDHC too.
