The price has come back down again. The cheapest 1TB I can find so far.

My HD like this one had a nasty whurr, not loud but audible...my other drive is totally silent so this unit went as soon as it arrived. Best avoided if you use Mac stuff as all you can hear is the drone in the background! If you are using a fanned PC tower, most chance you wont hear it.

Brilliant price. I bought this Seagate HD about 6 months ago for £50, but it was the 500GB. So to have the 1TB for a similar price, even a bit lower is excellent.

There’s this too: http://www.comet.co.uk/p/3.5-inch-Desktop-Hard-Drive/buy-IOMEGA-34968-3.5-inch-Desktop-Hard-Drive/688703 (note, picture given seems to be a random “something to do with hard drives” choice).

Beware, this particular line of Seagate External HD's are very unreliable. Shame as Seagate are normally the opposite.

Used to be, alas. They were my go-to harddrive company for years, until they took over Maxtor, stripped years of their warranties, started scaring their staff with constant threats of redundancies, and released consecutive lines of harddrives with fatal flaws in them. As it is now, they're the budget-line company who I, and a lot of people, simply won't buy from because their recent history has been so bad.

Gone back up to £52.50 :(

This one certainly does have an awful lot of bad reviews on Amazon (over 100 in fact) many reporting a "Seagate Click Of Death" which brings back memories of the dreaded "Zip drive Click Of Death", I realise that all drives have a few bad drives and it's impossible to find a drive maker who has not been 'slated' at one time or another but I think I would give this one a miss!
