As the title says. Excellent make of Hard Disk in my opinion.

Seagate external desktop drives provide extra storage for your ever-growing collection of files. Instantly add space for more files, consolidate all of your files to a single location, or free-up space on your computer's internal drive for improved performance.

Setup is straight forward, simply plug in the included power supply and USB cable and you are ready to go. It is automatically recognized by Windows, so there is no software to install and nothing to configure. Saving files is easy too, just drag-and-drop.

It's not just easy to use, but it's fast and energy efficient too. Enjoy fast data transfer speed with USB 2.0 connectivity and 7200 RPM drive performance. Built-in power management ensures energy-efficient operation.

no spec on website yet.

but worth checking if it has a 5 year warranty

Seagate stopped doing 5 year warranties ages ago. They're now 3 years.

comes up as £74.98 for me. not that great really.

Shame it doesn't power just on the USB...

Tesco Direct do the Iomega 1Tb for £69.97 which probably has the Seagate drive in it, mine did.

Seagate aren't as good as they used to be.

For me still a top make of HDD.

They aren't the world's biggest maker for nothing. Of course you will hear the odd dodgy review, but that applies to absolutely any product make in the world these days. People are more tempted to post bad reviews than good ones. People like a moan, especially on the internet.

Well I have owned 4 Seagate HDDs over the last 5 or 6 years and never had a bit of bother with them. The company obviously feel confident when they offer a 3 year warranty with them.

I say good deal.

^ completely agree, i mainly warn people not to buy crap if i see they're tempted, rather than encourage people to but good things, except for anything made by apple, i'll always encourage that!

Why do you care? In 5 years it'll be worth about 3p... and the warranty doesn't restore your data for you.

the warranty isn't about restoring your data you melon, it's about getting a replacement piece of kit. I for one would rather get one for free than have to buy a new one. As for them being cheaper in 5 years, you could say the same about any product with a free warranty that breaks somewhere down the line. If in 5 years they no longer make 1.5 TB drives and have moved on to bigger things, they will give you an equivalent / the smallest available drive, which would be an upgrade!

make sure you've got a backup if you're worried about losing data.

ebuyer are lying. some reviews of drives stating a 5 year warranty point out that checking on seagate's website has revealed that they only have 3 year warranties.

That's exactly what I said, but I guess you didn't read my post properly.

Seagate 2.5" drives are not a patch on Western Digital equivalents, even though they are the same company and similar spec, the transfer speed difference from my own experience is massive in real world terms, i've had 2 seagates and two similar WD's and the WD's blow them away on the same computer setup's that i have tried.

This deal is about a 3.5" drive.

Western Digital has nothing to do with Seagate; those are two completely separate companies. Seagate bought out Maxtor.
