yours is different product - 3.5inch with power supply
OP is portable 2.5inch no extra power needed
#3
Yes brilly electricity is in very short supply 2tb vs 1tb
#4
The 2TB deal is fantastic, but this is a 2.5" 1TB drive, altogether smaller and doesn't require external power. It's like comparing apples and oranges, the 2.5" drives are way more portable.

Both are very good deals.

For a 2TB (if you don't mind the power adapter) it's a great deal.

This portable drive looks brilliant for the price. This same drive is currently £90.84 @ Amazon...

oh well then, you are obviously allowed to make idiotic comments

Ignoring the troll

Let me remind people this is a backup device and is not suitable for roughing it outside the home, so electricity should not be a massive negative, not that I am in favour of either, personally I always use MY books due to the cases offering better protection

Just be warned you must have USB2 for it to work

bully for you, yet still don't know the difference between a 3.5" (mains powered) and a 2.5" (USB powered) hard drive...

oO

Hot deal OP for a 1TB USB powered drive.

Ignore the idiot....

But YOU are the troll - comparing 2 totally different products!

How's that for irony?
#12
'roughing it' yes i always do my backing up when i am doing a spot of downhill.
its portable, you can use it with your laptop out and about, you can put it in your pocket and easily transport with no power supply to think about etc

you cant do that with a 3.5inch and so they are completely different products and the mention in this thread is either irrelevant or extremely condecending or both.
'you need USB2' oh thanks lucky we had a genius programmer drop by else we'd be scratching out heads right now.
now i see you must have been right all along and everyone should bin their portable drives
#13
Be warned USB 2 required

and this is the same gang in action, lets hope nobody informs the mods of this behaviour

Be warned USB 2 required
you should edit this into the first post its vital information that the idiots on this forum (everyone thats not a computer programmer that is) would not know anything about USB or how to even post on a forum.
if you try this in a usb3 port you are risking life and limb obviously and will explode after playing 'YOU NEED USB2 YOU WERE WARNED' in a robotic voice.

read the comments yes - would be a good idea if someone did that
these products are not the same as has been stated many times now its just such an immense task to understand this even for a computer programmer

Are you a complete idiot?

2.5" drive here meaning you carry the drive and a usb lead and it works in any usb slot (2.0)

The ones you are posting are 3.5" which mean you need a power adapter and a usb lead (2.0)

You know the difference between a laptop hard drive and a desktop hard drive? Thats what this is!

I guess when you have problems with your PC you ring the support team up cos you obviously dont know anything about computers

One thing on these portable drive deails that is guaranteed - somebody will churp in "you can get a 2tb for the same price" ... and the really brash ones will then claim they are computer programmers and know everything there is to know about computers and the unirverse and that ... Classic absolute classic.:p

You're either a very good troll or an immense idiot. This is horses for courses - I already have a 2TB 3.5" external hard drive and carrying it this weekend in my laptop bag and finding a spare power socket to plug it into was a pain. I and many others in a similar position would like a "portable" 2.5" drive to take with us. Is this so hard to understand ?

I'm a rocket scientist by the way - maybe that's why I get it and you - a mere computer programmer - don't.

A little question for AndrewJacks (off in his bedroom)....

Please can you advise where you can get the 1TB drive AS LISTED IN THIS DEAL for cheaper elsewhere ....

... if the answer is you can't, then please shut up.

Thanks :D

I think "I'm a computer programmer" may be the new catch-phrase.
#36
Very tempted, I wonder how long until we can get 1.5TB - 2TB (portable drives), i've got a 1TB desktop one to backup my 2 computers but these are much more convenient being plug and play and no power.

To the Programmer: do you do contract work? I got a special job just for you

my Karzy is blocked again

I think this guy is trying to wind up everyone here and we are all falling for it.
Surely no one can be dumb enough to not only make a mistake, but then to actually try and justify their initial comments as well?
#39
So is this the cheapest 2.5" drive available? I need to get one that is USB powered...

Tried reading all the stuff above, but got lost when the binary code started!!

thanks
#40
moving on swiftly... I'm asking if this will work on a PS£ as I bought a WD 2.5" hdd recently & took it out of case to realise its got direct usb connection & no sata connection so I had to sell it on.
