looking for a hard drive to stick in my PS3 and came accross this. £3 cheaper than ebuyer and free delivery with scan if you sign up to the hexus forum. seen a WD hard drive for about the same price but this has a better interface as this is SATA-300 and that was SATA-150. and we all know that seagate drives are good because they are the drive in the PS3. it also says this is a pre-order.

ye i noticed that too. any idea what it means? even if you have to wait a bit its worth it at this price!

Means its out of stock and passed the expected delivery date

Good price but I read somewhere that the PS3 only supports SATA-150, so the 300 issue wont play a part on this. Too bad it's not it stock!!

SATA-300 is backwards compatible with SATA-150 (i.e. the drive will function at SATA-150 speed).

Edit: Good deal btw - I picked up a WD 160GB for £36 a couple of months ago but would have gone for this instead had it been available.

i also noticed this at scan http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=816867 if u , like me want to put things from your pc onto your PS3 without the need for an extra hard drive. this also would make this drive useable on xbox 360, usb dvd player etc. anyone used one of these or know if they are good or not? thanks

I've got this harddrive, well in my notebook. Runs cooler than my previous 100gb 7200rpm seagate. Not noticed difference in performance because of the increased disk platter density. I bought this at the end of June for £47. If i were to buy a new notebook HDD/PS3, i would pay more for the 250GB/320GB with 7200rpm as it will be considerably faster as well as 16MB cache and some varients have G-protection.

For the PS3 its better to stick with a 5400rpm drive, moving to a 7200 shows very little benefits, and will end up using a tad more heat.
