Does anyone have this in a hp n40l micro server? I have heard conflicting info on compatibility with 3tb drives?

    Heard you the first time!

As I mentioned in the previous Amazon deal for this drive, it appears that Seagate now offer a 2 year warranty:

I am still unclear on the status of OEM drives likes this. Could someone who has bought one of these drives and checked the warranty period online care to confirm?

Great to see pricing going down on hard drives.

I bought one of these at £99, but I'm pretty sure they will hit £75 in the new year. The problem is that I'd been holding off for nearly 12 months and really needed more storage :(

You really can't complain at this price, but if you really can do without right now, then I would wait a few more months.

I am using 4 x 2TB model of these disks on N40L microserver. No issues whatsoever, and would presume same with 3TB models which I am soon building a box with.

I agree :) But don't think prices will drop further significantly, may be a few more quid.

Wondering if 2 year warranty applies to previously purchased barracuda disks. Any ideas ?

I think it changed in June this year. If you have a Seagate disk why not use their online warranty checker?

The issues is if you are running Windows Home Server on the Microserver I believe, there are some details of it here http://homeservershow.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3980-n40l-and-3tb-disks/

I have one in my HP microserver too (Win7). No problems so far.

I've got 4 3TB in my microserver (bought last year when you could get Hitachi external drives for around £100), but I boot the OS using the 250GB drive it came with. The 3TB drives are configured as two RAID 1 arrays, using the 'hardware raid' rather than Windows Raid. Works fine.

Fine in mine too (Windows Home Server). Quiet, not hot and fast...

I was lucky and purchased 5 x 2Tb at £50 each during the summer before the floods. It's slowly getting closer but I'd imagine that we're still another 6 to 9 months at least if they ever do get back to the same price levels.

Thank you, much appreciated. This shows exactly what I wanted to know.

Just to let other know that drives purchased on 31 May 2011 from amazon are showing one year warranty instead of two year.

I'm not sure it's the .14 version. They list that too for about £2 more.
