Generally if a HDD is going to break it will do it within the first few weeks/months of use.
Good price for the capacity, slowly creeping back down.

Yeah if it dies after a year then what ? you'd have to go buy another one, isn't it better to just buy one with longer warranty for a little more ?

depends on the original cost and the cost of the warranty.
99% of the time, it would be better to go with a raid 1 than a warranty.
