sil0 already posted this (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/seagate-500gb-expansion-portable-ha/744905) however I thought it deserved a little more attention considering we can get £10 off, as follows:

Simply add a cheapy mouse mat for 58p (http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-0389.aspx) to bring the order over £50. Then use voucher code TDX-RTHK at the checkout to get this pretty nice price!

Edit: They are out of mousemats but just look for something cheap like "value dvd-r 5 pack" (£1) or "Tesco Value Modem Cable" (£0.38) to get it over £50..

This is a nice alternative if you want a USB powered drive, however if you don't mind it being powered and chunkier then I'd grab this one posted by robappleby89 instead:

#3
why the cold votes? or is it because of the Michael Jackson drive deal?
#4
Seems decent to me.

500gb for 40 notes, is good whichever way you look at it.
#5

probably, airheads comparing it to the 1TB for £44....not noticing (or knowing) that this is usb-powered whereas the latter is mains-powered!

feel sorry for the OP :)
#8
Was going to post this - i assumed someone would have beaten me to it!
Very good price for the 2.5" USB powered version.
#9
Hm, just hope the fools who are incapable of reading or udnerstanding technology (or both?) don't cause this to drop off the radar for folks it's actually of use to.
#10

Agreed!

I paid £44 for a 350Gb just a little while ago. great price!

don't expect a full 500gb, got mine from currys and my pc recognises 390gb when empty!!

There must be something wrong with your drive, which i doubt. Or it has installed software on it, or you are lying.

As a 500GB drive would never normally show up as 390GB empty.

Drive makers define a MB as 1,000,000 Bytes - windows defines it as 1,048,576 Bytes... So that knocks it down first of all. Second the formating of a drive makes some space unusable. Third you probably have a hidden partition in there for security or backup purposes do a complete format of the drive and I'd be hoping for something around 470GB.

If a drive actually had bad sectors then windows would let you know all about it
#26
Actually 470 is probably a bit optimistic, would expect 465GB.
#27
500GB for £40....
Just ordered mine!!!:p
#28
Good price i have one of these paid £50 nicker too, good drive. BUT i would try and grab the S2 sammy from the bay of flea or somewhere if you can the MJ edition is worth the extra £7 for the shiney, shiney and travel case is cool...
I bought one of those too last one frmo play £46 wish i had grabbed a handful from Ebuyer when they were £38 damn that was a SUPER FINE DEAL......

It's good, but still not as cheap/cost effective as getting a cheap enclosure and buying an internal 2.5 drive ;)
#30
Why expired? It's still available!

The cheap mat might be gone, but they are plenty of other cheap items to make up the £50 price threshold - even one or two suggested in this thread!

STILL WORKING!

Yes it is.

Why don't you post a link to a 2.5 drive and enclosure that works out cheaper than £40.55..... oh that right, you can't. Now keep your lies to yourself.

:)

Links?
#33
Yep still working, why is it Expire ?

Also it is not cost effective to build. Cheapest internal 500GB drive is nearly £40 on its own!
#34
How do we un-expire this? Or has the voucher expired?
#35
Ah, just went through this and the voucher has indeed expired. Shame! :(
#36
I ordered this about 30 mins ago and the discount worked - had other vouchers too so ended up paying £25. Bargain!
#37
just ordred code was fine 12:22
#38
Oh, maybe it just woudln't let me re-use the voucher then since it's account bound?

How do we un-expire (and who the heck expired it... sigh)?
