Fistly I will write that I am expecting this to get voted cold as it is not the cheapest 500gb desktop hard drive on the market as i know you can get buffalo 500gb drives for £10 cheaper at cddiscounts but this is a seagate drive so you know you are getting a good drive and it comes with a 5 year warranty which is always nice, it has a 16mb cache rather than the 8mb that most of these cheaper drives have and it is at least £10 cheaper than amazon, dabs and play.

is a good drive at a good price i agree but this seagate is also a good deal for the money I have not seen a drive from a good brand that has 500gb, 16mb cache and a 5 year warranty for this price.

Personally i do not want a 1tb drive as quite simply i do not trust that much data on one drive and i can not afford 2 drives to backup the backup drive (hope that makes sense), also i believe the WD drive is 8mb cache rather than 16mb but the 5 year warranty is what i really want and WD drive has only 2 years.

For me 500 Gb is way more than I need. So the 1TB drive would just be a waste of £14

Have to agree totally, if you want a 1tb drive that is a good price, if you need a fast 500gb hard drive this is probably going to be the cheapest you can get

Glad someone got use out of the offer i posted.

I recieved mine this morning, I ordered on xmas day afternoon and used the free delievery option so i think that is very good service considering yesterday was really the first working day since xmas, so thumbs up to ebuyer.

as for the drive well it looks good and is far better design then my older seagate drive which is prone to being knocked over. It is NTFS formatted so no need to do that yourself, it appear as 465gb in windows which is what it should appear as (remember if your drive is between 1gb and 999gb to times the stated gb by 7% (0.93) to get what it will appear as in windows). the back up and security software looks a lot better than the older version that i had but never used and after registering on the seagate website it confirmed it the warranty is valid for the next 5 years.

You can not really go wrong for £55.
