Good price for a fast 2TB eco drive.
Today only -> navigate down the list or search for ST2000DL003

free delivery for avforum members, hexus, etc

Seems to be the better choice than the usual Samsung deal (which btw is good) for a couple of pounds more.

This is the ST2000DL003 model which means 2TB, SATA 6Gb/s (SATA3), 64MB cache, 5900rpm

3 years warranty standard from Seagate, the rest is from scan...

Here is an extensive review of this Seagate model.

And of course a review for those who wonder how this does the seagate compare to the Samsung Spinpoint F4EG

Always been cautious of Seagate drives since I they are the only manufacturer I've had not one but 2 drives completely fail from and bearing in mind I work in the IT industry I've handled 100's of drives. Plus they record of late for large drives hasn't been great if you look at the major issues they had with the 1.5TB drives that failed due to firmware problems.

Ordered 2 of these earlier in the week. They had an offer of 2 x 2TB for £113.

Snapped it up to give me 4TB of storage on the media center, and am now ripping to iso all my dvds (1000! of them).
Seem fast enough for storage, 5900rpm, 64mb cache and running quite cool.
Excellent delivery and communication from scan and DPD (delivery co)
Overall, extremely happy!

I think I have this one, and sometimes it just randomly clicks, even if it's not being accessed... It only does it for a few seconds, but still, does **** you up a bit when you think "AHH! All my files are going to die!"

The clicking was a sign for all the people with the dodgy firmware that the drive was about to fail. Also I had a clicking noise on one of the 2 drives that I had fail so be warned my friend

This is the new Sata3 version which has not been out very long so I doubt if you have exactly same one.

None of these green/economy 2tb drives are built for reliability. WD has problem with intellipower and LLC count. ST is known for the click of death. Hitachi deskstar is also known as deathstar.

Anyway my Sata2 version of ST Barracuda LP has been running non stop in my new NAS for continuous 1.5 months and havent yet had any problem. Heard some click noise at night and it turned out to be my boiler+radiator! X)

For anyone who has, or is thinking of getting probably the best NAS on the market (Synology), these will be one of the few 2TB drives that will work without any issues. Although they are not yet on the Synology hard drive list they work great out the box.

On another note. I would just like to let everyone know how happy I am with my new 211j NAS :)
Fantastic piece of kit!
