Not sure why this is considered hot :S

While it's cheap for a 500gb drive, it's far cheaper per gb to get a 1TB drive.
The 'green' credentials of this drive mean only one thing; it'll be dog slow too.

thats why its hot - not everyone wants a 1tb drive
if you wont use the extra 500gb then its just an expensive big 500gb drive

So it's a 3.5" HDD? I wish the OP would put the size in the description. It would really help me out. I'm looking for a 2.5" HDD you see. I hate having to trawl through all the HDD deals clicking the "go to deal" link to find out.

Hot BTW! lol

Don't forget to factor in the cost of the replacement after OcUK stiff you on the warranty.

Why do you slate the company? Overclockers have a good warranty. If it was really as bad as a few people make out, then the company wouldnt be successful would it?

Maybe he is one of those few people, everyone is allowed to have an opinion! why would he make stuff up about a company anyway?!

I saw this go live at 9am, they had 25 units, they sold out in no time but I did bag myself one. :)

Never had any issues with ocuk for warranty/rma, good company been going over 10 years.

Which is why with less platters they are more reliable, and buying two of these and having them in a mirrored raid configuration it is a better solution for backup.

Your PC would run about as fast as a laptop if you put your OS in this drive. Slower ones are best used for movies, music etc.

As with any drive, if you are really concerned about loss of data, the easiest way is buying two identical drives and providing your motherboard supports (if not a PCI SATA card that supports it) do a mirror RAID configuration, resulting in data writes going to both drives, therefore if one fails you have a clone on the other.

Not necessarily, there are plenty of companies that get good comments from sales alone in relation to good prices and quick delivery, the vast percentage of customers that use these companies that don't have failure of goods within warranty period do not get to experience the customer service side of things.

It is when things go wrong that a companies customer service is tested and this is where companies are either drummed or applauded.

Some praise because of their positive experience/s whilst others denigrate after having theirs whilst in reality, there is no such thing as being a saint or being wicked forever and a day. Not when they are one and the same, separated by the timing [and not so much by time]. All the saintly and the wicked know that [only too well] which is why they all pretend that being saintly is a permanent attribute and they maintain that illusion through the delusion of their worshippers and a worshipper is he who thinks that permanence is possible - not when you have to physically “depart”.

When you become a worshipper, you are allowing the “variable”, oka your saviour, to do what he likes/maintain the illusion that he can do no wrong/the freedom to be “excessive” - through pitting the “for” with the “against”. Starting a riot by fingering some Patsy when Exposure is knocking at the door. From personal experiences [with an “s”], Overclockers have done some pretty WICKED things to me through my personal shopping experiences with them - including sending a dusty, possibly ex-RMAed motherboard claiming to be new [there boyo, search your records and see who you’d done that to and perhaps you’ll have the opportunity of “fingering” me out - once again - what do you mean that there are “possibly jest toooo many” to finger at !!]. Having operated PC companies locally and overseas, one can say one knows how the game is played. And Scan have sent me two used motherboards claiming that it came from their supplier, so did Play, dabs, etc., and the distributors too on other “matters of inconvenience”. If truth be told, should the minds be readable and their revelations committable by the judiciary, almost without exception, “Commerce” is a criminal offence, and this is because “Commerce” is firstly about greed-kum-fear [and vice-versa] and not so much about servicing others’ real needs, their frivolous desires, why of course.

Do not praise nor denigrate but keep “resellers” on their toes by pointing out their faults as well as telling them when they have been a “good boy” but leave out the worshipping bit because that is the licence for them to shaft you in the future. All know their faults and try to surmount them either through changing for the better or plying on a heavier coating of makeup. It depends on the MO of their “bosses” whether “he” is a beggar-kum-thief, an apologist, or an idealist. Almost without exception, every “entrepreneur” enters the game driven by either fear or greed and the joke is that fear is greed supressed and greed is fear expressed - being the different faces of the same coin, separated by the[ir] timing. One should be particularly cautious of Overclockers because they are successful in operating and maintain a large pool of worshippers through their “forums”, something that “others” have failed to do, try as they might. For those not religious of faith but religious of the material-intellect, to be wicked is to bear false witness against others - turning others’ night[mare] into your day[dreams], the permanent attribute of The Chosen Few, chosen for their ability to express and maintain their Fame, Fortune & Immortality.
