Not a bad price for 1.5tb, I was looking for 2tb but for an extra £20.00 thought I may as well get this. Thanks Leon Read More

Thanks a lot.

I think you mean you were looking for a 1tb NOT a 2tb?

If they are the same as the maxtor basics (which i have just bought and use they use a seagate drive inside them) then it will be pre formatted as NTFS and you will need to reformat it to FAT32 before your ps3 will recognize it.

very good price per giga byte

Don't seagate have issues with PS3, even if they are formatted to FAT32?

i dont understand why this went hot its a, 1.5tb hard drive at the average price. this verbatim for £92.22 comes with nero backup software http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=1044246 this samsung drive has really good reviews so i think its better than the sagate posted £92.99 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167742 at the end of the day its not a bad deal but not brilliant, alot of people on hotukdeals got the hitachi drives from cdiscount off this deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/433911/hitachi-3-5-1-5tb-external-usb-hard/ which i think is really excellent.

No, it's not an average price at all!

I check here everyday and this is THE best price a 1.5TB External has ever been. What is hard to understand about that?, it's the best price so it gets voted hot, it's not a verb for £92.22, nor is it a sagate (your words lol) for £92.99 it's a Seagate for £89.99, hence the BEST price, got it?. :x

I got one of these from PC world the other week for £95 using the collect at store.

It had a Barracuda 7200.11 32mb cache 7200rpm drive in it if anyone needs to know. Beware, if you crack the case open, the clips are designed to break and therefore you can't close it up properly again.

did u read my first post "£89.99 for a maxtor http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150124" you can also get it cheaper via dclstore price match http://www.dclstore.co.uk/desc-maxtor-1.5tb-3.5-desktop-external-hard-drive-7200-rpm-16mb-usb-2.0-stm315005ehd301-rk-pid-3163.aspxand price match it against ebuyer.

Its seagate drives that were in both of my PS3's that I upgraded the hard drives in so I doubt if they have issues just because they are seagate drives, I have the 2 drives in enclosures and they always work as they should.

just remember most hard drives are naff :) spinning bits of metal whirling around really fast can only go wrong
so backup!

no personal experience but I do know that the HDD that was in my 60gb ps3 originally was a seagate and when I put that in an external 2.5" enclousure it was detected fine after being reformatted.

edit: well someone's already made my point for me I see on another thought it could be the USB hardware side that the ps3 might have a problem with but I cannot be arsed to research it since I am not going to buy a seagate external HDD and if I did i would be streaming my media from it over a media server so then ntfs/fat32 doesn't matter.
