Found this 1tb 3.5" ext hd instore (£59.97) only next to the 500gb version (£49.97). The 1tb version comes complete with the full CA internet security suite too. found this also discounted on dixons and amazon but for £65.50 but does not come with the internet security. its the cheapest 1tb ext hd that ive seen upto now. (it's still silly price on the tesco direct website at the moment (£119))

Got any photos of the price or reciept?

I got one of these a few weeks ago in Tesco New Malden for this price - thought this was about the normal price for these disks. The CA security suite didn't interest me, but I suppose it's a pretty good deal if you happen to be on the lookout for a 1TB disk and some security software. Voted Hot.

Just ordered with 3% quidco, and also a voucher that came through with 750 points for spending 50 quid at Tesco Direct, so with any luck that makes the drive just over 50 quid for me. Hot deal, and never had any problems with Seagate external drives (already got 2 which are both over 2 years old).

I'd rather have the Hitachi for £59.99 from amazon with 3 year warranty instead of this ones two year.

I'm a PC technician & will gladly say "BACKUP YOUR HITACHI" Warrranty isnt really worth anything if you lose the data on your drive. Hitachi / IBM are the worse hard drives for reliability. Seagate, Western Digital have the best reliability out of all these drives.

Yes this was on offer around Christmas but finished before i could get my hands on one. After recommending it to my clients !
So definately picking one up. Be wary about the Security Suite, you need your Credit Card details before you can use it.

Heat added.

Does anyone know if this powers down when the attached device does?

Getting this drive does no guarantee an hitatchi HD could be a seagate or WD inside :whistling:

Ordered one of these on Saturday as it was described on Tesco Direct website as 'USB Powered' - picked it up today and it definitely isn't (it's hoooooge!!) and Tesco have since amended their description. Will return it to them as it isn't what I want, i.e. USB-powered and portable - loads of comparable 1TB external desktop drives about.

Bought one of these yesterday.

Whisper quiet and tuns cold. I have transferred 100Gb overalready and it is working well.
Anything important should be backed up on another device or still present on the original. With 300Gb of music, I needed to put it somewhere safe as backup. Also with Windows 7 trial expiring I need to back up the laptop before I rstore it back to Vista or whatever I choose. I have 24 hours to go so this was the best price at the time.:p

Mains powered, but with the free software It may well turn out to be an absoulte bargain.
