This is an excellent in-store price for this drive - in-store deals deffo have greater appeal at the moment, heat added. As for the temptation to pay another tenner for more capacity, ain't that always the way with everything and it's not good enough a reason for me to vote cold.

only a small price to pay for twice the capacity, also the comet deal is in store. And you can buy 500gb usb hard drive for £45 or 640gb for about £50.
examples:
500gb £44.99 http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/8705564/Maxtor-Basics-STM305003EHD301-RK-500GB-USB-2-0-3-5-External-Hard-Drive/Product.html
640gb £54.99 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149456

500gb iomega £42.74 code:5wdio http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/567795/IOMEGA-500GB-3.5-EXTERNAL-HARD-DRIVE
500gb Hitachi £44.99 http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/595799/HITACHI-0S00074?cm_sp=FeatureEnd-_--_-position

i think what he did was enter his postcode into the comet to check stock in his local stores, hence out of stock for him.

You always deffo make the effort Computerman. For a start the first one you mention isn't comparable as it's not an instore deal - so who knows when that will arrive.
The second is online and dearer... maybe the other ones win, I've lost interest at this point, sorry.

At this point 94 per cent of HUKD members add the 'whistling icon'. They are lunatics.

if you actually clicked on the comet links you woud find those are in store deals. Bottom line you can get a 500gb Iomegga or Hitachi drive in store at comet for cheaper, and 2gb drives are super cheap about £3-4 and this deal was also posted before with argos vouchers supplied, hence cold.

This hard drive was submitted 3 weeks ago with £10 argos vouchers and the usb flash drive. http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/493654/seagate-500gb-external-hard-drive-w

OK OK I checked out the Iomega at Currys. None available in my city (Lincoln) - but you weren't to know that. Whereas my local Argos has the Seagate BTW. Also the Seagate is Mac compatible and the Iomega says it isn't (surprised at that).

I absolutely won't be checking the fourth and final link in your original reply to this post. It is probably THE ONE. If you are referring to older deals then a 1TB Seagate was going for £55 a while back. It's not now. Seems to me that prices seem to be holding firm or even creeping up slightly on electronics lately.

wrong again when i said this i meant the exact same seagate hard drive as this deal. "EXPIRED - Seagate 500Gb external hard drive with free 2Gb USB flash drive & £10 in vouchers £49.99 @ Argos" why are you so scared to click the links i give?

Not sure what's your point now, Computerman. You give the impression of being IT savvy but diss one deal and then post out of date deals or ones that have expired or ones that are not widely available to put other posters down. The deals you post are OK sometimes but nothing special, like the ones you are pushing now. They aren't necessarily hot compared to the people you slate, they are similar in many ways. HUKD is just one more excuse for a childish flame war for some people. HOT/COLD, who really cares that much, just check out the deals and if it's right for you then go buy.
