Welcome to HUKD hatim :-D and thanks for your first post!

In late 2006 I was paying similar prices for 400GB external drives, so great price.
#4
I've updated it to include the delivery charge, which we always try to show here. :)

Sooooooooooooooo Tempting .....

Hard drive prices in general are falling at a crazy rate...this time next year you will probably be able to get many more GBs for your money

Welcome to Hukd's hatim :) nice first post!

Bought a 250GB one for £84 at xmas. Should have waited. :(

Great Drive, But the worst Backup software I have EVER seen.

Good brand, but not sure how good this deal is. When I "go to deal" I get the price of £117 - thats better. I take it the price you give (£127) is including postage.
The price isn't bad, but the design is a little on the ugly and bulky side. Also, its not fanless. You can get an equally good stylish 500gb for under £80 with free delivery (google check-out and super saver from Ebuyer.com). An extra 250gb for £47 more, but for a less attractive design. Tough one...rated warm.

Considering the cheapest stand-alone drive (without caddy) is £140+ this is a steal.

Rip the drive out, stick it in your pc and put the caddy on eBay :D

Voted hot, that's a great price!

NEVER buy a fanless hard drive enclosure - you might like the silence, but you won't like the early death of the hot drives.

Bare 750gb internal drives are £162 at ebuyer... (thats 21p per GB)

This price is 16p per GB, excellent value ,same pence per GB price as 500GB internal drives. ;)

Bear in mind this is firewire as well which generally adds a bit to the cost.

I've ordered one myself, firewire is ideal - I've used a few of these Seagate drives before and never had any issues with them as they feel solid and well built.

Can I strip the Drive OUT of the Enclosure and use?

(P.s. Is it a SATA or IDE drive inside?!)

Managed to get one just before it went out of stock!

However my total was £131.53. The only postage options I got were RM Special Delivery at £11.95+vat and CityLink at £14.??+vat.

Will check the postage charged by Royal Mail on the box tommorow and then it might be time to ask for a shipping part refund :p.

Not necessarily true.
While some cheaper fanless drives may dissipate heat poorly, it is a misconception that drives with a fan will always out-perform a passively cooled one. My 500gb Freecom drive is fanless and is cooler than the Western Digital drive it replaced - which, funnily enough was actively cooled (i.e. with a fan).

3 reasons why I think the Freecom 500gb external drive is a better deal:

Its 500gb which means 16p per GigaBite versus 17.5p for the Seagate's 750.
The Freecom one is fanless, just as cool (if not cooler) and silent. The Seagate is noisy.
The freecom one looks the business, while the Seagate one most certainly doesn't...

Good price, terrible company to deal with!
Read some of the comments here: http://www.thedvdforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=304325&highlight=overclockers
Also do a Google search on this company and you'll see what I mean!

Pretty sure it's SATA, I don't this size of drive is available in IDE

Hot deal.
Can people stop moaning every time a retailer they believe to be below par offers a deal! I’ve seen feedback on websites of companies I’ve used 20 or 30 times without issue and they get a 3 out of 10 rating. A person has one bad experience and moans and it’s not really representative in my experience.
I’ve only used Overclockers about 6+ times and had no problem with returns and refunds. Unless people actually got ripped off by a company and lost money, I wish they’d just keep their minor problems to themselves.
If people have had ‘serious’ problems with a company first hand, then please feel free to share and say what your problem was. Please no more, ‘Google it to find out remarks.’
A lot of the time I wonder whether people are just talking hearsay.

Rant over.:x

Received the drive in good shape. Turns out that the actual postage cost is £19.45 :p more than what I paid...

Mine arrived today, very fast dispatch and delivery - all looks good, the only slight annoyance I have is that it only comes with six pin firewire to six pin plus the unit itself only has six pin firewire. I'm fairly sure the older model came with a six pin and four pin port on the hard drive and then a four to six pin cable which could work either way.

Very minor though, I was fully expecting a cancellation e-mail - a 750GB firewire drive for under 130 quid delivered is a great deal.
