Credit to the OP of the Pogoplug link which made me check reviews.

The Pogoplg review link1 reckoned it was much slower connecting to USB disks than the Seagate model link2

Amazon.com reviews link3 either love it or hate it.

Ok it's not pretty pink and white but it is cheaper than the Pogoplug! And this decided me:

... but for a Linux tinkerer looking for a replacement for their old Linksys NSLU2, or someone who just wants to play with ARM Linux, this is a *fantastic* deal now. It runs an ssh server (root pw "stxadmin") and you can jump right in, disable the Pogoplug software and then you've got a nice ARM Linux device that you can set up with Debian, Gentoo, or something you compile yourself.

Downside is that it is coming from Germany with a delivery date of 08 Oct to 27 Oct oO. No matter, Amazon's customer service should sort any problems.

marketpalce seller?

I'll buy that for a dollar.

Apparently you can run Squeeze Server on this: see here

EDIT: Be aware of this fact: the marketplace seller is completely unknown and, as yet, has no feedback.

Agree about the seller but I'm hoping that Amazon customer service will sort any problems. Also delivery for the item I ordered was between 08 Oct and 27 Oct oO.

Nevertheless if it all works out, a new toy to replace my NSLU2.

Yeah I think it's worth a punt. The seller looks pretty legit as they have a substantial e-commerce site.

Great if you only indend to share within your own network. You only get a year for free with this, if you plan to actually use it properly, and then it's a paid subscription jobby.

However, with a Pogoplug, it's a one off cost.

as unknown seller not allowed and so spammed

No subscription any more - look at the note under the picture at the bottom of this link:
No more fee

And if you don't like the Amazon seller, Play have it at £39-99

Sorry to ruin the party but as others have said, unknown marketplace seller, totally not allowed on here I'm afraid.

£38.18 from Scan http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductID=1099605&source=froogle. Not sure if there is P &P on top of that

or £39.99 Delivered from Play http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/12495833/Seagate-FreeAgent-DockStar-Network-Adapter/Product.html?_%24ja=tsid:11518|cc:|prd:12495833|cat:Hard+Drives

Both are probably better bets then from an unknown seller on Amazon
