Very good price :) Thanks!

People should pay the extra few quid and get the Barracuda 7200.10 drives.

You mean 25 quid more. Not worth to pay that much for a home user only!

Been waiting for a reasonably priced 500G SATA for my new Dell E520/E4300/22" Monitor system that I nabbed a few weeks ago thanks to hotukdeals.

Slightly cheaper than the Dell upgrade!:whistling:

This seems like great value, what does the extra £25 for the 7200.10 one give you?

Due to its perpendicular technology the 7200.10 should be a fair bit faster - i.e. easily managing 80MB/s, whereas most current drives max out at 70.

The 7200.10 is also noisier and hotter due to using 50% more power, so more of a drain on your PSU too..... I don't think it's worth 33% more money.

I'm really tempted by this deal, despite being a WD fanboy ;)

bah, they all fail! least u get 5 years with seagate. lol.

£25 more would make it not cheap, so go for this one!

Personally, im hoping for a day soon when i can get 3 for £150.

Talking of that, anyone know an SATA controller card that supports Raid 5? with 3 ports, which is cheap!

If you simply need to get 500GB, this is one of the cheapest drives you will find, and is pretty darned good as a sweetener to the deal.

However, if you are looking for high-speed more than capacity, there are better options available to you (e.g. RAID 0 array, or 36GB Raptor) for around this price.

You would only really want to spend more money if both the very, very highest performance and 500GB capacity are important to you.

For what it is, voted hot!

This looks like a decent deal and I apologise, I don't mean to hijack your thread but......

ebuyer always look like good value until I hit their checkout and find they still have their ridiculous (and wholly unjustified) £15 surcharge for deliveries to Northern Ireland
(which is still a part of the UK and where I and my family find almost identical postage rates......we regularly send stuff between us all across the UK as we are quite dispersed).

I'm always amazed that businesses are happy to turn down the amount of business they must lose just because of this foolishness - or is it just sheer greed?

NI residents can check out the good from the rest with this site -

I think ebuyer charge £15 more for delivery to NI because they use Citylink as couriers and they charge £15 extra for NI so ebuyer have to pass the cost on.

Just ordered 4 Samsungs from Komplett:

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=327715

These are £82 plus 6.75 delivery and are similar spec as the 7200.10 (NCQ etc). They get good reviews for speed and (lack of) noise.
