Noticed these up the Cribbs Causeway Currys Megastore in Bristol today. There up in the gaming section tucked away up the back. I will try and see if I can get a picture up tomorrow if you want. I was talking to salesman and he said he was pretty sure its store specific but if you could all have a check and ill update it if it is nationwide.

This got very hot when this deal was on at Christmas, so lets see if the're still in demand.

Another thing I spotted was this sat next to them for £19.97 I think. http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/4-/8922102/Sega-Mega-Drive-Console-With-15-Games/Product.html

Seems v. cheap (best I can find online is HMV at £15: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku=863118&WT.mc_id=101689

Handy for entertaining the kids (& me!) on the beach etc. 'cos it's not the end of the world if it gets lost or wrecked at that price.

Thanks, I shall pick one up tomorrow if they are still there!

Ah yeah, probably should have put that in description LOL

Voted cold.

These things are meant to be really poor emulators.

If you ask me, you'd be better off getting a DS and a flash cart and putting a genesis/megadrive emulator on it,

Tim

I've been meaning to do this myself but don't know how, mind pointing me in the right direction?

Good deal though!!

Only works if you have a DS already though, otherwise that's an expensive way to play some MegaDrive games...
#8
It could do with Streets of Rage 2 instead of Altered Beast...

Very hot though. I'm tempted to buy from HMV as Curry's isn't close. As for the DS comment, I disagree. The native DS resolution is not large enough to fully display a Megadrive game. So your only choice is to have some of the sides cut off or to have it shrunk down, which results in nasty graphics. Get a GP2X Wiz or an A320 from here if you're into emulation and the like: http://gbax.com/

I hd one of these, and mine worked fine. Good enough screen, and the emulation seemed fine (had the odd graphical glitch but nothing major)

DS Genesis emulator is good. I play Sonic The Hedgehog on it quite a lot.

I'd buy one of these for a tenner I have no desire to own a ds myself and def not for £100
#14
Looks good for a bit of cheap retro fun. I don't think this model has much in the way of hackery potential sadly - No soldering megadrive slots on :(. Still at a tenner, who wouldn't want to keep in the loo

Spot on. Some people just don't get the point of this place
#16
ive got the other one where you plug in the tele and can put mega drive games in it
#17
I admit i bought one of these when they were £25. So This price is a good deal. However £25 was too much for this in the first place.
I quickly got bored of them as the screen is absolutely tiny. Stick to the sega collection for ps3/xbox if you have that choice.

You could pick up an old phat ds for about £20-£30 (at a guess) and a flash cart for under a tenner - so between £30-40. More expensive, but you get a full selection of games and more than just a genesis emulator.

I spose it isnt too bad a deal but its a bit limited.
#22
oh gosh, Bristol is a journey for me. will look for it on-line. Thanks
#23
No luck at my local Currys in Southend. I think this is exclusive to Bristol or possibly Megastores only.

Tim Nice-but-dim? shame about the 90+ pounds difference in price.
#25
i got one of these when the first game out - £10er for Alex the Kid and Super Mario Bros (the original) alone is a bargin!

This contains Sega Mega Drive games. Super Mario Bros. is a Nintendo game, you won't find that on this collection. Back in the day of the Mega Drive Sega and Nintendo were rivals.
#28
This has a distinct lack of games on it :(. You'd think with the tiny size of the games and the cheap price of chips they'd be less stingy. Oh and the PSP is far superior to the nintendo DS when it comes to emulation; it's the main reason I bought my PSP and I've barely touched my DS Lite ever since. So if you want a device primarily for emulation you'd be better off with a PSP, same kinda price range 2nd hand and far more powerful (original fat, or 2000 not 3000 or Go).
I'm not voting either way as this does have it's merits but the lack of games on it is just sucky.
#29
With an emulator Sega gets no money, with this they do get some. And they deserve that money-there are some decent retro games here...

Why is this so hot when it is store specific. Great for those who live in or very near Bristol, but not everybody.

Because the purpose of this site is to rate deals, not put them down becasue you cant get to them

If you rate them down becasue you cant get to it, people in bristol wont know about the deal rendering this site pointless

I agree with this to a certain extent, and haven't voted it hot or cold. I would never vote a deal cold just because I can't get it, unlike many others on here. I am just going on other posts where they have restricted availability and are shot down because nobody else can get them or it gets expired. I am not saying that this is not a good deal, I am just saying that I am surprised that it has got so much heat when 99% of the UK population can't get it.

OOO i see where your coming from. I sort of jumped the gun and thought you voted cold, But yeah, i am surprised as well.

I find this product to be a waste of money, I purchased a Sega mega drive proper console last year for £10, I then sold it for £20 a couple of months ago. You can get a sega mega drive emulator on some phones and they are free. If you want a proper portable device for just mega drive gaming then look for a GP2X which is a emulator gaming device.

That would cost rather more that 9.99 what a ridiculous comparison.
