Seiko Men's Tachymeter Watch SND253 £118 (RRP £350) @ Amazon.
This impressive, features-packed pilot's watch from Seiko is a sophisticated blend of function and style. The solid steel case and bracelet highlight a round black dial with luminous hands and markers, a red sweep seconds hand, and a date display at the three o'clock hour. Three chronograph subdials register up to 60 minutes of elapsed time in 1/10 second increments. The dial is capped with a highly scratch-resistant Hardlex crystal and framed by a matching black bi-directional rotating bezel with a rotary compass and a slide rule for rapid calculations and conversions, including multiplication, division, speed, distance, fuel consumption rate, and fuel conversions. Other notable features of this watch include precise quartz movement and a screw-down locking crown. This Seiko watch is rated water resistant to 100 meters.

Nice watch, decent price, although I reckon amazons RRP is probably a bit over the top

They are anything but bogus. A lot of well respected chaps on TZ-UK.com use them frequently.
#6
Is that through a 3rd party on the amazon site?

nice watch!

Has anyone EVER used a tachymeter in anger? I bet 90% of folk have no idea what a tachymeter is, let alone how to use it.

Looks like a good price.

Is it for measuring speed? I found it much easier and safer to just check the speedo :D

Normal selling price is only £120 and not £350

The watch looks awful in my opinion. I have seen better for that price. Personally i wouldn'y pay so much money for a watch. You can get some very nice watches for around £80.

Even if they sell genuine product, import duty+VAT+customs clearance fee is easily 20 quid+

The RRP is over inflated its no way a £350 watch i can guarantee you of that its no more than a £200 job its water proof to just 100 not the usual higher 200meters and it looks to be an automatic not kinetic to nothing really special.

After a check there's nothing special about the price can be bought from top rated seller on ebay for around the same.

Nah, it's for measuring percentages. That's how meanredspider got to 90%. Either that or he wildly plucked a random number out of thin air in an attempt to make himself look "knowledgeable" on the t'internet. X)

#17
Even I've found it for £87 without much effort , it's £120 watch .

I had to look it up when my watch came with one on. Almost as pointless as that thing for removing stones from horses' hooves. Yes - for speed - basically see how far the second hand gets for a mile (km, meter, etc etc) and the number on the tachymeter is your speed. Thing is, how do you know when you've done a mile? (look at your speedo.....?!)

Bought one of these on eBay (new) for about £100 a few years back. Also called a Flightmaster. Not a hot deal, though nice watch.

It is just a normal quartz, and worth no where near the retail price, but companys like SCS and others slap extortionate retail prices on items and it works, it encourages the idiots to think they have got a bargain. Anyone interested in a timex i have for sale, should have been £600 but its yours for £250

I've got the Navy/ blue colour version of the same. Got it from Amazon.COM (US site), worked out about £60 at the time, collected it when I visited US to visit family about 4 years ago. I prefer the look of mine to the black one.
A few months ago one of the stopwatch hands (the red one on mine) has become out of place. Otherwise works fine and keeps accurate time. Of course it has all the usual unnecessary functions like flight calculators etc. on the bezel for pilots out there. But I'd be a bit worried if Airline pilots actually use this to calculate fuel required etc.
Also buyers don't forget when setting date/ time on SEIKO's you pull out the Crown only after you unscrew it by turning it first.

Forgot to add that the glass seems highly scratch resistant. The metal bezel on mine has slightly marked as I'm careless at times, but the glass somehow does not seem to scratch easily like cheaper watches. There is not a mark on the glass screen so far.

Looking at your speedo gives you the speed you are doing at that precise moment. The tachymeter will give you your average speed. You use the milemarkers on the road/race track etc to tell you the distance. Fairly pointless but we all like things to be more than we really need.

Just another ugly, overdone, watch (*) - when all you really need is something to tell you the time :)

As a piece of wrist jewellery, it may appeal to some, but time-wise it'll be no better than the Times I bought for £15 --- and I never wear that.

(*) there are obviously fans of ugly, overdone, watches out there.

200m is not the 'usual' for water resistance... the norm is 50m or 100m. Remember, even a watch 'water resistant' to 200m is still not suitable for diving.

The movement is quartz, not automatic. Don't really see the point in the Kinetic movement anyway... seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me to have an automatic quartz movement.

You are right. We should all be driving the cheapest Lada's. Go only to Lidl, Netto or Asda to shop. Also must live in the cheapest neighbourhood possible. Why bother getting dressed up for a wedding or a party, just wear your usual clothes or better still wear the work uniform. We should watch black and white TV, or do we need a tele at all, just listen to the radio. No need for anything even a little bit fancy. We don't need to look for deals at all to buy something usually expensive at a cheaper price. Do we even need a HUKD in that case. Lets just stick to Sainsbury's basics range for everything and we are sorted. Should we all just move to live in a monastry to top it all.
