(SELECTED?) INSTORE DEAL ONLY!

Whilst at the Virgin Megastore at the Trafford Centre Manchester today, I noticed that the Seinfeld Seasons 1-3 DVD Boxset was on sale at £16.99 (RRP £59.99)

This is the cheapest I've ever seen this boxset (and I've been watching the prices for Seinfeld boxsets on the web for a while)

The cheapest I could find it elsewhere online today (using find-dvd.co.uk) was £24.89 from Sendit or £24.97 from Amazon. I thought I'd bagged a bargain over the weekend, as I bought this for £21.83 from HMV (using their 20% code plus Quidco), but at £16.99 it's definitely a HOTUKDEAL!

I don't know if this price is nationwide instores at Virgin Megastores (perhaps someone can check and post back in the comments?), but this link: http://www.virginmegastores.co.uk/invt/594742 Virgin's website shows it at £59.99 ! It was priced at £16.99 at the Trafford Centre

I took note of the prices of the other Seinfeld boxsets whilst in Virgin, and they aren't as competitive:

Season 1-3: £16.99 (cheapest from Virgin!)
Season 4: £19.99 (£13.29 from TheHut)
Season 5: £16.99 (£13.98 from Select Cheaper)
Season 6: £19.99 (£13.98 from Select Cheaper)

It's very overrated. Good deal though

It's a matter of taste of course, but in my opinion this is the greatest sitcom ever

If you're looking for an episode to download and watch - to see if it's your thing - you could do worse than try 'The Contest' (from Season 4)

There's a fair amount of Seinfeld stuff up on Youtube:

Also worth checking out is Curb Your Enthusiasm - which stars Larry David (the writer of Seinfeld)

Can a mod clean up my attempted link to the Virgin website in the middle of my first post above ? (oops)

Thanks for that lot kowalski :) I'll clean up the Virgin links ;-) Also take a look at some of them later!

Worth noting that seasons 1 and 2 together are only 18 episodes and a normal season (like season 3) is about 22 episodes. 40 episodes is excellent for the price but you're not getting the 66 episodes you might expect.

These are excellent DVDs. I like the Notes about Nothing which are like a very well researched and interesting commentary trivia track but in subtitle form - they're on every episode. Season 1 & 2 are both good but 3-5 are some of my favourite TV series ever (I certainly don't mind 6-9 either). Not everyone's cup of tea, but great if you like a clever sort of sitcom.

Although you gain a little bit by watching them all from the beginning, you might get into it more easily by watching some of the best ones ever in the middle as suggested - the beginning starts off a little bit more slowly. Well worth picking up at this price if you are (or think you could be) a fan.

Thanks 0d0d :) I like to find new sitcoms and I'll definitely give this a go sometime. I would prefer starting at the beginning though and find those funnier episodes later on, once I know the characters :-D

Fair enough: but be aware that Seinfeld only began to become REALLY good from Season 3-4 onwards. Please don't let Seasons 1 and 2 cloud your judgment.

But once it got into top gear, it was far and away the best sitcom ever made.

There are episodes of that programme that it should be illegal not to have seen.

And I concur with regard to Curb Your Enthusiasm. I absolutely love that programme. And it was outstanding from the first minute of the first show.

could an admin edit the link within my first post (there's a link to Virgin Megastores website in HTML, but it doesn't seem to have worked properly?) - apologies it was my first attempt at posting a deal on here

In my opinion you most certainly have - I was hooked from Season 1 that I watched on the off chance and it only grew and grew, season 4-6 are particularly laugh-out-loud funny...

NOTE: Most seasons are now £13.99 delivered at www.play.com
