How do we know this are not fakes?
#2
The model 'above' - CX500 are basically the same price on amazon, and I think play.

Telephone them and ask if Play.com is an authorised seller - http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en.nsf/root/contact_address

Can you post a link please - I can't find the CX500 sold directly by Amazon, only third party sellers. Cheers.

Make sure you buy from Play directly and not one of their play/trade sellers.

Trust me I have and the person from Sennheiser was clueless, just wondered why the OP needed to add the comment about fakes, suggesting he had information that these could not be

I bought some CX400's from Play about 1 year ago for £6ish. They are nice headphones, great quality, but the lead is a little short.
#8
Hot... If they are direct from play they will be genuine.

These are amazing quality for the price, and for any motorcyclists they fit perfectly under a crash helmet.
#10
Always preferred these, but the price is higher than usual - they're usually under a tenner.

I even use them as earplugs on planes, even if I'm not actually listening to anything.

You must have had fakes. I have had one set for over 2 years. They've been submerged in water and left trampled in the mud and rain in two separate incidents and are still working as good as new.

Sound quality superb for the price too, and they do stay in your earholes very comfortably. Can't recommend them enough.

Agreed with shakey. Mine is almost a yr now and it's great despite it looks really flimsy
#16
Mine lasted just 18 months before one side died so there is a durability problem, however I replaced with the same model as I was pleased with the sound quality...I received genuine Sennheiser from Play but do not hold out any great hope that they will last any longer than my first pair.
#17
there good, but they feel a little cheap. I have them but if i was going to buy again, i wouldnt get these. Good price tho'
#18
I bought a pair of these for my Iphone they are so much better than the standard issue earphones buy them now

Why would a huge retailer such as Play.com be selling fakes? :|
People are usually fooled by Play Sellers, Amazon Sellers or certain Auction sites.

I'm on my second pair of MKIs, as above first pair had one ear piece die. But they have a two year warranty so I just had it replaced.
That fault was pretty common on the MKIs but these Mark IIs are supposed to have fixed that problem so I hear...

As for the EP-630s posted above mine lasted barely a few weeks before completely dying, so I wasn't too lucky with those.

I have had 2 pairs of these from Amazon and the sound quality is very good but the left ear failed on both pairs inside of 3 months. I sent them back and got a refund and am now using a cheap pair of ILUV's don't sound quite as good but a lot studier plus they have an in-line volume control which I find useful.

18 months is a decent amount of time for a £15 pair of headphones.

I had two Sony pairs that broke within 3 months.
