REVIEWS SUGGEST THE SENNHEISER PHONES ARE SLIGHTLY BETTER SOUND BUT HAVING HAD THEM I WOULD BE TEMPTED INTO THE ULTIMATE' AS THEY APPEAR TO BE FAR MORE DURABLE...(MY SENNHEISER'S BROKE AFTER COUPLE OF MONTHS PROBABLY A DISCONNECT WITHIN THE WIRE AS MINE GET YANKED AROUND)
I'VE PROBABLE NOT HELPED...

Heat + REP got a pair of these yesterday morning, but due to work forgot to post the deal up!

I agree, the CX300's are very good but they do feel a little fragile. I can't comment on the Ultimate's although am tempted at that price.

Undecided on these or the philips noise cancelling ones for the same price. Are the ones from Amazons preferred reseller definately legit?

Means absolutely nothing other than Sennheiser are a 5* star advertiser :w00t:

What Hi-Fi lost all its credibility many years ago.

Yep, I've been through 4 sets of CX300s in the last 3 years, but I can easily live with replacing them at this price, especially given the sound quality. Before these I had some £100 Sure E2Cs which broke within 6 months and were a huge pain to get replaced under warranty. The replacements broke again within 6 months and I moved to the CX300s.

I do use my headphones every day, and maybe I'm wrong to expect them to last, but my original Gameboy headphones lasted for about 5 years when I was a much more careless kid.

I'll be using them for runnig/gym amongst other things so probably will for the Ultimate Ears if they are more durable. Thanks for the help.

#21

They have a two year warranty - I tend to buy them from Amazon, and every year/18 months or so end up returning them (as the sound in one ear goes) and getting them replaced - great thing about Amazon is that they will accept the return no questions asked, no packaging needed etc. Therefore £15 for lifetime supply of headphones:w00t:

Ordered mine too since my old ones are falling apart after 2 years. For some reason Amazon gave me 5£ discount on this order even though I did not added any voucher code or went via special deal. My order total automatically came down to 9.49 with (Super saver delivery). Weird but welcome.

edit: Heat+rep added.

Anyone know if this seller is definately legit pls? Thx

Like most fake items, it's so hard to tell.

The best guarentee against fake products is to buy from source -
I.e. Play (not playtrade) and Amazon (not marketplace)

Just ordered a pair of these too, hope they're ok!

They're at £13.99 now. Is it a different seller than from when the OP posted?

EDIT: Oh I see the £14.49 was from Amazon itself. My mistake.

i got the same earphones off 7 day shop, slightly cheaper, anyway i actually left them in the washing machine and they still worked somehow

To those saying that the CX-300's are fragile and break easily (sound in one ear goes), I went through a few pairs of CX-300 MkI buds in about a year, and was happy to replace them at that cost as I use them -alot- and they give great sound quality.

I got some CX-300 Mk II's (what's being sold here) a few months ago and I can say that they are of much better build quality than the Mk I's that people may be used to. They also look nicer :-)

This is true actually - my MKIIs have yet to break, although having said that I am certain that out of the box the left ear was quieter than the right - it did strike me that perhaps they have done this so people dont notice when the right ear starts to go (its the longer part of the J and was the ear to go on all my MKIs)... Personally I prefer the look and feel of the older ones, but each to their own.

"listen on the go" if you want to get hit by a car...

I've recently bought a pair of these, its nice, mids and highs are much sharper compared to my then creative 630's, punch bass is tight however it feels like the very low end bass it seems to struggle slightly, even with different eq settings it struggles to give me the bass of the creative 630's i've had. Which is a shame really..

It feels better quality than the creatives, liking the asymmetric L/R's so overall its better than the creatives. Im just missing my Creatives as I bought them for £5.xx (not playtrade, sale), whereas the cx300II 's for 2; nearly 3 times the price.. :-( (£13.xx)

These were £15 at Play.com, last I saw. Might be worth checking their price, especially given the TopCashBack return you won't get with Amazon.
#35
these have been at this price for a while?
#36
I've got a pair of these in my headphones arsenal (along with some Bose on-ears, Beyer DT250s, Sennheiser HD25s, Shure E2Cs, Sennheiser PX200s) and they represent excellent value for money at this price. My main criticism is of the poor high-frequency response; the E2Cs are much better in this regard, but bigger, heavier and more expensive. My secondary criticism would be the size of the jack - it's massive.

Of the headphones above, I would highly recommend the PX200s for portable use. They are light, comfortable and sound excellent - much more natural than the Bose (which I tend to use with the 'Treble Reducer' EQ on my BlackBerry or iPod).

Wouldn't ever buy anything that is easy to break to Play. Had a pair of these eco headfones break on me.

Called Play and the said send them to back to Sennheiser. Sent them to Sennheiser. Sennheiser returned them to me saying only Play can get them swapped out.

Called Play and play directed me to Sennheiser on the fone – Sennheiser sent me back saying no really Play must swap them in the 1st year. Called Play who insisted I should send them to Sennheiser.

Called Sennheiser again and this time Sennheiser said call Play and demand to speak to the Customer Service manager (a name I forget now) – as soon as I did this they then magically said I could return them and gave me an RMA number.

Then at the end of it all, they emailed me to say the CX350 ’s (yes CX350, not the Eco CX300’s!) were out of stock (the CX300s were and they were the ones I returned) and they were refunding me. Utter waste of time and money spent resolving it.

Amazon every time for me now!
#38
hopefully these are as good as my zune headphones if not better as im currently using a pair of creatives that came with the zen :-(
#39
What are the noise leakage like on these? There is nothing worse than being on the tube and having other folk giving you evils.
#40
Hmmm considering...I've been on the fence for ages as I want to get a nice set of earphones for my iphone for when I go on holiday in May.....never use them other than that....

Tempting...altho I do like the look of those skullcandy ones that someone had a post about a few weeks back....the metal wire sells it to me =p
