CX500's are CX300's with an inline volume adjustment. So they are very near, in fact, better as the volume control is fiddly and easily breaks... :w00t:

mate tbh theres not much difference I prefer the cx500s though.

If you pop over to the dvdforums they'll confirm the same as I say :)

I prefer it without an inline volume control - all my headfones with this break, including my old sennheisers...

Black ones are in stock at Play for 14.99

White ones are pre-order at £29.99

Would prefer the white ones so won't be ordering at that price. Hot anyway!
#12
good price but previously posted at 7dayshop for £14.49 delivered

Yep and white ones are the same price.

Nice headphones. Theyve always been one of the cheapest in the Sennheiser in-ear range, but they definitely fo the job!
#16
Does this version still have the awful cable noise?
#17
Shame about the 'L' shaped plug...
Might have been tempted otherwise.

What sort of cable noise?

I don't hear any noise picked up through mine, unless you mean noise picked up through brushing against the cables etc.
#19
I don't think the 'cable' noise can really be physically dealt with on any headphones that go into ear canal, at least, not easily, and doubtfully on a cheapish pair, due simply to the physical fact that they are in such close contact that any physical vibration on cable will travel though the casing and into ear too, would need to decouple the two somehow, and I can't see that being done on a cheap pair somehow.

ordered a similar spec a month or so ago from a deal on here (the cx500 series)

dillied and dallied a bit because 20 quid or so seemed a lot for headphones

however using these at the gym is a godsend the quality is supreme

well worth it imo

Why has everyone got a problem with the L/J shaped jack? :?

Why would this be considered any sort of 'deal' though when its available for cheaper from elsewhere?

Cold

Don't buy them from ebay even if they list something they call Sennheiser cx500 for less then £15. You are likely not to get Sennheiser but some kind of counterfeit false copy.

I have some white CX500's for sale which I bought a couple of weeks ago, if anyone is interested. They are out of the box but have never been used. I tried all fittings and the sound and fit was poor for me. The majority of people don't seem to have a problem with them though.

eh ?
It's cheaper elsewhere. Therefore, this is not a deal.
Therefore - cold.

Previous poster they may look the same but they are not, take a closer look at the adapter! The link on the post above is to the cx300 (not cx300 II)

Someone has also posted that the cx300's are the same as the cx500's apart from the inline volume control, they're not!

Frequency Response: 17 - 22000 Hz cx500
Frequency Response: 19 - 21,000 Hz cx300 II

I've just ordered the cx300's from play after deliberating about the 500's- I'm going to wear mine to the gym. For that reason alone i'm getting the 300's. Look at the length of the cable on the 500's (nobody including sennheiser's site lists the length but its substantially larger than 1.2 metres

sorry, didn't see that. thanks

Bought these a couple of months ago, very nice rich sound (slightly bassy) but the cable quality in my opinion is poor. The cable is very thin and wirey (as in stiff). If you put these headphones in the pouch supplied you end up with something resembling a curly wurly !!! The cable never seems to straighten, even after prolonged use. Cable noise is the worst I have experienced, so even walikng is best avoided unless you turn the volume up. Saying that...................these are nice cans for the price.
#33
got these now - wow, they do sound fantastic. Soooooo much better than my apple ipod ones!

Just got these today, not sure about ECO with the amount of cardboard, makes a nice puzzle though! Sound seems good but I'm not too impressed with the fit, my MDR-NC022 Sonys are angled and fit much better but I suppose these are good for the price though!

Just ordered but there now listed as OUT OF STOCK when you get to the basket.... :(

Just ordered my 3rd pair of the Cx300's, sister hoovered up my last pair :(

Literally. I sleep on the floor in the living room lol. :(
#38
Just received mine. To say they're a disappointment is an understatement.

Don't get me wrong, they're a damned sight better than most small in-ear efforts but they're very coloured.

Low-mids over-emphasised, little real bass extension, nasally upper-mids and recessed treble.

Compared to my Grado SR80s (which are only double the price) they're pretty rotten if I'm being honest.

I can see why folk who don't know what real bass sounds like would like them though -- but shame on WhatHiFi for giving them 5 stars.
