Great price if genuine, but just be wary. Sennheiser's seem to be an often counterfeited product (they are visually almost identical). Lots of them seem to find their way onto ebay and the Amazon marketplace!

Probably because it's a market place seller and the point made in post 2 is well worth noting. I'm not saying these are fakes but there are a LOT about.

People in the market for high quality in ear headphones may wanna look here though as this is Dixons/PC World selling under their evilbay outlet. VERY good price too!

EDIT: Just search DENON-AHC-551 on evilbay and look for Techfurb as the seller.

Surely there must be some way of knowing a fake from a genuine CX400 II ?
Serial numbers, markings, packaging, etc ... I'm only asking as I ordered some from Fleabay for £11.95 yesterday and am now worried. Seller has a top nothch rating too.

unfortunately i didn't know for a couple of years that i had fakes as the ones i ordered from amazong market place were still good... but when i broke them and got some genuiine ones from amazon i was quite impressed at the differences.
I'll dig out the website with the differences listed, but unfortunately it'd probably be too late..

I can only say that if it's too late, be happy that they'd probably be good fakes :S

If you do some searching you should find some guides. I bough a pair of CX300's from Amazon market place some time ago and I wouldn't have known from the packaging or looks of the headphones that I had fakes. It wasn't 'till I listened to them and felt disappointed with the sound that I did a bit of research. There should be a guide to help you spot fake 400's too.

EDIT: This website looks interesting and can possibly help...

TimmyUK - Brilliant link that summarises everything, ie the proffesional stance:
"This is where my hands are tied regarding the conversations I’ve had with Sennheiser. From my point of view this is a decent comparison between real and fake. However, again there are details i just can’t go into here, but my advice still stands, buy from an ‘Authorized’ dealer, not a ‘reputable’ dealer."

The main issue with my fakes were lack of Bass,, but I wasn't used to getting bass anyway so they seemed ok :)

I'll be using this in future to tell people which to buy. It is a shame we have to.... If you can get a fake pair for less than a fiver (say) than it's still better quality than most cheap ones, but it'd be daft :)

(not voted either way on this by the way, but i'd have gone cold due to uncertainty)

I've just taken delivery of a pair of the 400's from Sipstarlive and am returning them if I can, they are obviously fakes - managed to transform the sound from my Desire HD phone into a 1960's mono transitor effect! Tried on friend's iphone and PC, same effect - all agree these are pants.

Packaging and even the pouch all top notch, so not sure how you're too know.

If you got them from an Amazon market place seller you should be fine as I think Amazon themselves will still cover you if there's a problem.

I got a pair of these from same seller on Amazon Marketplace

I got mine for a pressie for the Mrs which she'l get at the weekend. From the look of the item and the packaging it all looks pukka ... nothing to show that it is a copy. Looks genuine enough and something I'd buy from the shop.
I guess the proof of the pudding is when my Mrs opens it and plugs it into her ZTE Blade.
I'll compare them to my CX300 II's and (hopefully) they should be the same or better.

Else, to Ebay Legal I go.
