I've been after a reasonably priced set of reasonable quality headphones for a while, are these for me? No? Any suggetions?

good quality brand great price if you dont wanna shell out these are for you

I am a bose addict though so wont be getting them

Most people think that to get decent headphones you only have to pay a few quid. But if you really want the best out of your music, you may want to spend a little more. I would expect around 40-50 pounds is perfect for 'reasonable' quality. Sennheiser and bose are great companies too. My dad bought some sennheisers when he was 15 and has kept them all this time. They work brilliantly. You would actually pay more for them now than he did at the time (£10).:)

If your lookng for headphones in that range id get these

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/1102677/Sennheiser-PMX-70-In-Ear-Sports-Headphones/Product.html

The ones in this deal ar a ****** to get to stay in your ears.

Still a good price though

Senn = great.
Bose = also great.

these are very...garish, so unless you are very comfortable wearing bright colours, then you should only really buy these for jogging/sport. personally i'd say splash out the extra on the pmx 70s http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/1102677/Sennheiser-PMX-70-In-Ear-Sports-Headphones/Product.html i use them for rockclimbing among other things, and they never, ever budge.

For £9.99 I recommend these.

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/753149/Sony-MDR-EX71SL-In-Ear-Headphones/Product.html

Nothing special, but much better than iPod standard buds etc. They stay in my ears when running/walking too, so always a bonus.

If you want bigger and clearer sound, get a headphone amp and big cans (I use a Little Dot MKIII with Sennheiser HD595). For the most part, most people will make do with an iPod/Zen etc and won't benefit much from £100 ear buds as the DACs on portable players are generally a bit poop! Exceptions being the likes of Cowon of course.

I bought some of these last time around as my other Sennheisers (PMX 60) were pretty good, these offer pretty poor sound quality though. The average user won't be able to tell, but they aren't worth allot more than £7. They are also awkward to get on your head too.

For the money, it's gotta be Porta Pros - been made the same way since the 80's, limited lifetime warranty, the best sound for under £200 (yet they only cost £17) and the look...just ace!

If these Senn's are good for £7 then these Koss cans should be £100 - they're jus tthat much better!
#8
^ I hope you mean best for under £100, because the Shure E2C etc are pretty decent, as are a number of open-back cans for that kinda money! Though, I do agree - the Porta Pro's are an age-old classic.

I was bought a pair of sennheisers for £245 to replace a pair of sony headphones i had for about 10 yrs i couldn't get them repaired the sonys cost me new £90 please give me back my sonys, the sennheisers are for morris dancing cd's,country music ,cliff ,hermans hermets, Hanna Montana & the like but not Shania Twain some of her tracks have a bit of bass in them, they don't like bass my mate had a bose system i told him they dont like anything with a beat to it, but he went ahead, what a waste of money he could have got a brilliant hifi & bought me one as well & bought fish&chips for four :-D

if you don't like the porta pro's retro look then get the senn px100, they run the porta pro's pretty close, they are around the same price as the pro's as well

I bought these for the gym about a year ago.

Great for sports as they stick like glue, no chance of falling out your ears etc. Great sound as well for the money if this is your reason for buying, mine cost around £20. might get another pair as I've just moved and haven't the foggyest where they are.

Wouldnt buy them as high quality home headphones though.

I've owned a couple of pairs of the PX100, but now I'm using the PX200 and must say I prefer them. They are more comfortable, and the build quality is better so they are more durable. Plus, they have (a minor amount) of noise cancelling, so you can turn up your music and not disturb people around you. The PX100 leak a lot of noise.

Agree porta pros are very good value for money for the sound you get, though not the best under £200 in my view (both decent shure and etymotic sound better than these)

Couldn't agree more, but mainly for sports use. These are amazing if you go to the gym or go running. They don't move around and have good (not amazing) sound quality. I'm on my 2nd pair now (btw that's not because they break easilly, but because I use them 5 times a week running), and when they came out they were £30-40 so this is a bargain!

I've used the £7.99 pair also and I'm not sure if its because i have smaller ear holes than normal, but find these slightly uncomfortable and they pop out like other earphones when running.

If you were looking for a generic pair of earphones, just to listen to music on the bus, then the 7.99 ones would be fine imho.

I have the px100's in white. I really recommend em, the sound and bass on them is top notch

don't want to sound dumb, but which size do I need for my laptop or my n95's jack plug? 9mm or 11mm?

or do i have the wrong end of the stick.

Also is the above link the same skull cand earphone for half the price?

seriously, for everyone recomending some (admittedly very nice) HiFi headphones, take note - these are for use *at the gym*, or when playing sports. yeah, you can get some better headphones if you don't have any desire to use them for sports - but it seems a bit unfair, as these type of headphones are designed for a specific job, which they do well. i'd be surprised if any of the over ear headphones here (or the skull candys) would stay in while jogging, and i'm pretty much 100% certain that they'd fall out if you fall 20 feet when rockclimbing.
#33
One assumes that everyone is playing lossless music with their expensive headphones...
#34
got these last time from play,

alot of wire gets tangled up very easy which is annoying but very comfy and useful for gym work, great sound but one earphone broke a bit too easy for my liking

good for the price but i wouldnt buy again.

Nice one

px100's are the ones to get
they come with iphone adapters now

Got a pair of these last time Play had them at this price. A little fiddly to wear, but great value for money. Heated.

Guess you would appreciate some nice music if you're in agony at the base of a cliff! ;-)
