Serenity Blu-Ray at HMV for £6.99

A great movie!
Slightly cheaper than the Amazon deal.
Granted, it's not in the 2 for £15, but there are plenty of blu-rays on HMV for less than £8, so you could get yourself another great one for less than £15 :)

If you haven't already, I highly recommend you watch Firefly if you get the chance!

"Beloved television cult director Joss Whedon ('Buffy The Vampire Slayer', 'Angel') makes a spectacular first foray onto the big screen with 'Serenity', the cinematic adaptation of his wildly popular but short-lived sci-fi series, 'Firefly'. A mix of space western, comedy, and drama, 'Serenity' follows captain Malcolm Mal Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) and his ragtag crew as they trade their way around the edges of civilised society. Of particular interest are two passengers they take on, Simon and River Tam (Sean Maher, Summer Glau), a brother and his telepathic sister on the run from the corrupt governing Alliance. As notorious former members of the anti-Alliance opposition, Mal and his crew make it difficult for Simon and River to stay hidden. Everything goes completely awry when a government assassin is sent to retrieve River. As Mal is forced to choose between his close-knit crew and the brother and sister newcomers, it becomes apparent that River harbours both a dangerous secret and astounding fighting powers, and Mal decides that discovering the truth about what she knows might just be worth his time. Many of the film's action sequences revolve around Summer Glau's martial arts skills in her portrayal of River. Glau prepared for her role with Hong Kong stuntwoman Ming Lu, as well as stunt coordinators Chad Stahelski and Hiro Koda, and as a resulted performed nearly all the stunt work herself. In addition to the stellar stunts, realistic graphics, and an often haunting score, the film's actors display a rare chemistry that brings viewers both into their lives and into a possible version of humanity's future."

...and make sure you watch the firefly episodes in the correct order. It'll make a lot more sense.

Heat added :)

I have them on dvd to watch, I guess watch the tv series first ?
#3
Been waiting for this to pop up!

Almost finished watching the Firefly blu-rays (on here at £17 a while back) so this will go down a treat once done.

:)

I'd go with the TV show first, yes :)

The film makes sense without it, but you get a much better appreciation of what's what if you've seen Firefly first :)

Sounds like a plan! :D

Though, I didn't see that Firefly had had a blu-ray release? When did that happen?! ^^
And for only £17? That's awesome!

listed here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/firefly-blurays-21-02-inc-shipping/813713

Import (doubt we'll see it over here) but as it says it plays fine on UK PS3...conversion etc. came out cheaper than the list price too. I took a gamble as never watched the series but had seen Serenity a long time ago and wasn't sure what to make of it so had always meant to watch Firefly...then completely forgot until that deal...now, I love it!

That's excellent :)

Kinda gutted I missed that ><
It's gone up to $50-odd, which I assume would be more than £30.
It does suck that we're unlikely to get it over here. But I'm hopefully going to America soon, so maybe I'll try and pick it up whilst I'm there :)

And that's awesome! I love getting into a TV show without really knowing what to expect beforehand :)

I'm really looking forward to seeing Joss Whedon take on The Avengers!!

Such a great film. This offer makes me wanna break my personal rule of not rebuying something I already have on DVD!

Going into the basket at £8.99 for me :|

For the life of me can't understand why people rate this show so highly... utterly awful and rightly cancelled.

Just watched this last night on BR, fantastic transfer.

Seen this film many times and even if you own the dvd would recommend the BR as the sound and picture really make it sooooo much better :)

I just tried it and found the same thing, £8.99 in the basket.
It says 'In Stock' on the film's page, but 'usually dispatched in 5 to 8 days' on the checkout page, so maybe they've raised the price 'til they get more in stock?
Hopefully it'll come back down in price in no time.
'cause it's definitely worth buying :D

Also, I wouldn't agree at all that it deserved to get cancelled ><
I s'pose if it hadn't got cancelled then there'd be no Serenity, and I do love Serenity so damn much.
But even so! There would've been more Firefly!

I actually watched this on Friday night - it looks great on Blu Ray and is a worthy upgrade from the DVD release.

Top film too.

Now showing as £8.99 on HMV so I guess thats the offer definitely over, I should have ordered from Amazon last night as they had it at £7.49, but its gone up there as well.
#22
I reckon it might come back down to £6.99 in a few days when they get more in stock.
That doesn't sound like it'd make sense, just a hunch.
But I could obviously be wrong ^^

I'll keep my eyes peeled and post it back up if it comes back :)
