Ok fellow HUKD'ers, I've sat on this one all day. Firstly to prove to myself it is an actual price glitch, secondly to take full advantage of it, and thirdly to wait until the weekend starts and the mighty muscle of Tesco are all at home for the weekend and won't be in to rectify this glitch until Monday.......

So, points one and two being proven as I've well and truly filled my boots with cheese, (see attached photo's of receipts)........ it's up to you individuals to now take advantage.....

Here's the glitch. Tesco currently have both white and red Seriously strong cheddar on BOGOFF, but for every two white you buy WITH every two red, not only does the BOGOFF get deducted at the till, but another 50% of the value of the BOGOFF comes off also, effectively making the deal a buy one, get THREE free......

See my receipts for proof, and go get lots of cheese before they rectify it........

Thanks ! ! !

Even if it's store specific, its still a great deal for those who live in the area. I know for a fact atleast 10 people on HUKD live in nottingham and I have benefitted from store specific deals as I may have overlooked offers in Tesco while others haven't.

Only my opinion of what I have found, no malice intended :-D

If you grate the cheese and portion it into freezer bags before you freeze it the cheese is absolutely fine. I have always done this anyway and just grabbed a bag when needed. Sad aren't I?

Off to Tesco for some cheese...... is it really strong though? My kids won't eat really strong cheese!!

He's got about 5KG of cheese! He'll need to grate it into a dozen bin bags!! lol :-D

some places do bogoff as in but one get one for free,

Bad english. You can buy one, get one free, or buy one, get one for nothing, but certainly not for free.

Anyway, I've just returned from Chester-le-Street Tesco and the glitch didn't work for me - so I paid twice what I expected and ended up with much more cheese than I need (but nowhere near what the OP bought!!!).

thanks op - I posted your find on MSE and on the thread it has been confirmed, quote;

I saw this post and went straight down managed to get 8 blocks of cheese for £7.36 4 for me and 4 for my mum there was only 5 blocks of red left ( i took four of them) but loads and loads of white. I rang my mum who then rang my brother and he managed to get 4 blocks from stockport too

So only the OP has had this glitch work, every one else has failed to get this deal....But it still gets red hot.

WHY????

Not true. I bought four white seriously strong cheeses yesterday, thought the bill was low. It was only today when I saw this post and checked the receipt that I realised three had been free but by them deal had expired. Store is in Brixton the only mistake the OP made was in assuming the glitch was a result of mixing white and red when in fact four of the same worked. Eat before 17/5

furthermore, even when cheese goes off, you just trim the edges off & what's underneath is fine.

let's not forget that cheese is basically mould to start with, there is no such thing as fresh cheese.

and unless you break the seal you are unlikely to even get white mould. I always find it amusing to see "Vintage 24-month aged cheddar" get stuck with a two month expiration date :D

Well done OP & thanks for posting.
Melt down some bargain candles on offer and dip the blocks in wax for longlasting protection

I've just been to Tesco Lincoln (Wragby Rd) and unfortunately they don't stock the red variety of this cheese, - perhaps it's a regional thing?

tiberious
no red cheese at Guildford

sarell
only white in Goole

Same in Brighton Tesco stores- only white available. They must have stopped this glitch BEFORE this deal was posted, because I tried 4 white blocks first thing this morning at 8am and it did not work. According to Flombard 4 white blocks should have worked.

Mac cheese yum yum :p

Enjoy you cheese ;-)

Not only was there no red at my local Tesco, but the BOGOF offer wasn't even on either.

are the tills not programmed centrally?

LMFAO...every store is responsible for managing national promotions etc...because a product is priced wrongly at one store does not in any way mean it is priced wrongly in every store...its down to the price intregrity dept to ensure this doesnt happen they program the BOGOFs

i would have presumed PI only updated labels/prices/promos after printing it all off from the computer.they arent responsible for actually entering prices onto the system....if shelf edge labels differ to the scanned price of an item its because PI have missed the label, not because they havent programmed a price into the system surely? as far as am aware errors like this will be area specific
ms01ma#75
maybe its different but in smaller stores all promos are controlled centrally
ellie-mai#76
didn't work in the Burnley branch tonight
sarell#77
Pontefract store had white AND red today, but not even the BOGOF was working

Oops did not work for me when I went to my local on Saturday eve! Anyone else had any luck?

so even though it could be programmed by one team nationally, accross however many hundred stores, tesco employ the same number of people it would take to do national, in each & every store do they? I think not.

it's ether set nationally on a networked system, or someone at each store simply has to run an update file sent to them from HO, (as I recall, Morrisson's is updated automatically overnight) but no way do tesco hand over full pricing responsibility to each individual store.
