Hmmm, smells a bit iffy this deal. I'll not vote either way as I'm not a cheese buff.

I love cheese, Got some of this a few days ago it's really not bad, I was surprised how much I liked it. Went to Bakewell show last week and was on tv, stood behind the actor who played Martain Platt who had just won best crumbly cheese, I still have some of it in my fridge. Best cheese I've ever tasted thought is one called black bomber, I first tasted it at another country show a few years back. It's really is yummy!!!:)

Is this a special offer, or regular price and a recommendation?
#6
It's usually £3 something in Morrisons and they have the red cheddar in our branch at the moment which is gorgeous.

If you like strong cheese then try Waitrose Essential Cheddar...it's strength level is 6 ! And i mean a real 6. Not one of those pretend 5s which really taste more like a 4...

"so in a league of it's own!"

I usually buy it when cheap enough (and it is OFTEN around this price eg. Somerfield [Scotland] have it for £2.02 per pack at the moment for example) and I do like it as an everyday cheese, it is a factory produced product, admittedly with lots of flavour, and the slightly crystalline texture that good cheddar has; but to suggest this is some sort of world beating cheese is laughable!
There is a lot better and more distinctive out there, this is just "mousetrap" but admittedly good value. Around a Fiver a Kg like this is about a third of the price of cheese that I would even begin to put in the world beating category.

Best flavour, in my opinion, of the current everyday cheese offers at the moment is the Parkham Farm Vintage at Somerfield [England & Wales only] @£2.02 for 370g as it is a little less factory style, although I suspect is it just as mass produced!

Tesco have it 'reduced' to £3 (usually about £3.40) - so this is a good deal!

I am a great and long standing fan of strong English cheddar and found this particular brand very disappointing. Neither the strength nor taste of its many competitors - the name is seriously misleading. So, although the deal is a good one (i.e. cheap), I could not personally recommend this cheese.

I like cheese generally but as i previously said...please try Waitrose Essential Cheddar Strength 6...it hits the spot very nicely.

God i love cheddar !!

i've tried lots of mature cheddars from supermarkets. i think this is the best. and i bought some foe £2 from asda yesterday. it does seem to be either reduced or bogof recently

Yep, little black bomber is the best cheese I've tasted too.

So creamy and strong!

So the next question is ," Where in the high street can we pick up some black bomber" ?
