I owned a Servis washing machine once, and I had a friend who owned the exact same one. They both broke within 3 years of owning them, and eventually I replaced with a Bosch. This is probably a false economy. Voted cold.

A little unfair. Put a warranty on this for £50 and get 5yrs fully working machine then get rid and replace. Sorry to disillusion but Bosch are not the company they once were.

Unless you go as far as a Meile, all machines are very similar. Names count for nout now, uneconomical to repair, now disposable just like toasters when they break.

Unfair to vote cold, just based on your personal experience. Excellent deal, well done

For those on a tight budget i think this is a great buy, we havent all got the money to buy the best at the moment, good spot and voted hot

last month we had a £300 servis machine delivered and it broke within 18hours of delivery, 3 weeks later we still had the broken machine sitting there, no engineer had been and we finally said give us our money back and we bought a Hoover one from Dixons online.

The Hoover one is working great, and to top it off Dixons delivered us one on the Tuesday and for some unknown reason a Second identical one last Tuesday so we have a spare just in case it breaks :-D lol

Last year I had an AEG that broke after one month, several repairs later I gave up and got a full refund. Happy with my very cheap Indesit, will replace in a few yrs, as I say all disposable now.

Already been discussed here

If it lasts a few years. Ours lasted 18 months. The door lock goes which blows the circuit board. When you have to start it by pushing the door with your knee, it is on the way out.

Good deal. I got a servis a few years ago, still going strong, not had a problem yet. When it packs up I'll have had my money's worth. Machines aren't what they once were. Nothing is built to last these days - how would they make any money if it was?
#9
Only buy miele if you want a washing machine that will last failing this costco have a hotpoint very high spec available at £40 off using their voucher book.
#10
Bought a Servis on sale from Argos 4 years ago and have had not problems whatsoever. Have to drain it every now and then or water starts staying in tank but that is no bother. For what I paid (£240) I am well pleased with it planning on buying a miele next though now I am no longer a skint **** ooman :p

I am interested in one of these machines, but when I go to the B&Q website, I cannot find it anywhere, is it an instore offer only?

I wouldnt bother good price but poor machine and company.
As a buyer for a national company we have just discontinued Servis as a supplier. Their product is the most unreliable in the industry, yes we have one or two complaints from other manufacturers but servis complaints dwarfs these. Not only that but every repair they seem to be trying to undertake recently takes 4 weeks or more just to get the spare parts. The machines they sell are also very noisey.
They will not touch you after your 12 month warranty is up.

If you wish a hassle free washing experiance avoid Servis it really isnt worth it!!!:x

I repair washing machines for a living and I must say in my opinion the servis machines are false ecconomy. If you do get 18 months out of them you are doing well!. Buy a Bosch instead. Sorry but voted cold

Like I said, not everyone's cuppa. Also forgot to mention its an in-store offer/deal........

The main reason for posting this is 4 years back I bought the Servis Caress 1000 apart from a power switch (and more recently the drum bearing) it served me well...

Speak as you find...... :)

Christ what do people want for £129 iv'e just paid £300 for a hotpoint i would have jumped at this.I paid the same for a second hand one a few years back to go in the garage.
#16
ive had a servis machine for 4 years the handle broke twice im now using a screwdriver to open the machine it is also a bit harsh on clothes as well

i paid £400 for a hotpoint and its been a pile of junk ever since day 1, i cannot afford a new one until this completely packs in, i wouldnt have minded at £120 but £400 and its no better than this one probably
#18
I seriously doubt that you can get a washing machine which is adequate and reliable enough for regular use for £129.

It seems odd that most of us think nothing of paying £1000+ for a new boiler, but for a washing machine some people might try and get by with one that costs a bit more then the average weeks shopping.

Surely the washing machine is the most used and possibly important appliance in the house. I can imagine coping one way or another without most other things, but a washing machine is different.

It is, but I don't think cost is an option.

Dyson's cost about £1000, and had many reliability issues and have now been discontinued.

A hotpoint I had broke the water stopper valve on its first wash, the water kept coming and coming until it came out of the top of the machine and blew up.

My current is a Zanussi, brought the display model at 40% off, it had lasted over 3 years, does great daily washing and it recommended.

I have lost track of what I was going to post, so will press send now.. :0

Dyson's were just a poor after-thought of a washing machine.

I was very close to buying one..

And even closer when they were reduced to clear, but the sales guy told me to avoid.
#23
Another one who had a Servis pack up after less than two years. They are pants.

Hotpoints are supposed to be poor as well.

Replaced mine with a Bosch, they may not be as reliable as they once were but they are still streets ahead of the likes of Servis.

For anyone who really needs a new washing machine, check out www.washerhelp.co.uk or http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/index.php - there you will find out what the decents brands/models are, and what makes to avoid (like Servis).

For £129+£50 to extend the warranty you have a guaranteed working machine for up to 5yrs...all for under £200. Reliability problem sorted.

I am someone who has never taken a warranty out in my life but have now done so on my new machine (Indesit-John Lewis). If you spend £300 on a machine, it is no more reliable than the cheaper makes. Sad fact of life that the market is now becoming flooded with cheaper brands
#25
Looked in my local b&q - I coulndnt see this.... :(

They had some hotpoints for £199

But I wanted something cheap and cheerful (I guess im going get the old one repaired again.....)
#26
Wanted £250 to repair my AEG, just not economical anymore

The warranties are fine until you find out that when you claim the reality is that it takes them 48 hours to answer the phone and then 3 weeks to attend. That's when you realise that you'd wished that you had got something more reliable.

I had a servis some years ago and can't recall haivng trouble with it

Servis offer the following:

5 year parts guarantee, 12 months labour.
All Servis appliances come with a full 12 month parts and labour guarantee and an additional 4 year parts warranty (to take advantage of the additional 4 year parts warranty, the guarantee card must be returned to us for registration) which reflects the confidence in our range of products.

All products are extremely reliable and we hope that this guarantee demonstrates that Servis are serious about providing top quality products to the marketplace.

The after-sales service is provided by our own national team of service engineers who are fully trained and only use Servis replacement parts guaranteeing the long life and performance of your Servis product

#31

I must agree, I would buy a second hand Bosch, over a new Servis anyday!

oohah
used my credit card to get a second year warranty free.

Wot's this about??
#34
Nationwide credit card offers an additional years warranty for 'most' household electical items that cost £50 or more and are fully paid for using their credit card.
#35
I'm a bit nervous about Servis myself (hey that rhymes) after reading varying experiences with the brand. I really need a new washing machine!

I bought this last night with the 25% off voucher for Bargain Crazy

http://www.bargaincrazy.com/epages/Store.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BargainCrazy/Products/F02013PK01D

with £19.99 delivery it comes to £199.24, pretty good when it's about £300 elsewhere.

I can't find any reviews for the M6804W. Seeing the "5 year guarantee" blurb on the Servis website encouraged me to order, though.
