Bit annoyed to say the least another bill going up - £3.00 this time....

So, phoned them, they put me through to the retention department and without any fuss they said, well, what if we give you it for £5 for the next 3 months then, if you are still not happy with the £12.99 you can phone and discuss this in 3 months time -

bit of a hassle but £3 per month is better in our pockets....

Setanta on freeview/BTV is the biggest rip off ever compared to Setanta on Sky, I think it is something like 8 channels on Sky with Setanta 1 being 24hrs, on freeview/BTV you pay the same money for only Setanta 1 and it isnt 24hrs... bloody rip off:x

i'm with sky and got the increase letter today..

Good to know advice, no doubt it is to help pay for all the overpriced TV rights for the football and such sports.
#4
Customer service is far too bad and trying to cancel is even worse. AVOID

Cancelled my Sky last month and happy I didn't bother with this either. Almost signed up just before the first game of last season, only thing that stopped me was their site couldn't handle the traffic.

Waste of money, awful coverage, biased commentary. Go the pub, treat yourself to a nice meal the match is on and you will enjoy the atmosphere rather than staying in like a hermit.

has any one got the customer service number please

try 028 30824023 or 0131 3488651

OK they are real bad

rang to get rid and was asked why so i told them and was told please wait as i have to put you on to a **** manager i asked why they said there the only ones that can cancel it for me i then said well wont they just tell me to write in so why do i need to talk to them and that if i did go and talk to them they would just want to keep me on the service but if i still wanted to go they would in the end say you need to give 1 months notice and write in

if you want to get rid now you will have to Write in as calling them will only one pay them more money and 2 be of no use :)

I got the letter last week, when i called to cancel i got it for 7.50 for 6 months. So it looks like they were expecting this.

Setanta - customer service? :giggle:

Try 0191 501 3601 but you may have more luck writing your query on a piece of paper, addressing it "Dear Santa" & posting it up the chimney.....

You have to be careful though. I had the old '5 pound for the next 3 months line'. Agreed to it, then checked the next statement and they were still charging me the same 10.00 a month.

Don't kid yourself its got nothing to do with what you say to them when cancelling everybody gets offended a deal to stay with setanta most people take it because its nearly impossible to cancel.

absolute JOKE of a company, started with 3 months free no prob, went to cancel got offered 3 months for 5 quid which took them up on, got charged 9.99 for the next 2 months then went to cancel and after being told yes all has been cancelled have been charged the last 2 months at 9.99. i rang them earlier to be told oh we never had you down as having your account cancelled. STAY AWAY FROM THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY

AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!!
Do a little research here or MSE and you will find out these guys customer service are about as bad as it gets. Trying to cancel your subscription is almost impossible without something going wrong and oops, just charged you for another month...sorry. Or, 'no we didnt get your cancellation thats another 30 days notice please'.

If for some insane reason you do decide to join always do it by DD so YOU can cancel and not rely on them.

I phoned last night to cancel and when asked why I told them now the football season was offer my husband didn't need it. They offered me 3 months at £5 a month and when I asked what it would cost after the 3 months was told it would be £10.99 a month. I refused the offer and was told to write a letter to cancel the agreement. After discussing it again my husband decided we should take the offer, I phoned back and the girl said it wasn't 3 months the way it worked it meant you paid £5 twice not three times, I was totally confused and so fed up I just agreed. Brainwashed :x I think you would call it.

This company are a joke, i will never get setanta again no matter how many premier league games they show, they have still not cut me off even though i phoned to cancel last month and was told if i wanted to cancel i had to do it in writing, which i did.

I sent it recorded delivery so i know they got it, but they have not acknowledged the receipt f the letter as i requested and i'm still getting setanta sports :x

luckily i was paying by derict debit so they will be getting no more money from me
#21
Wonder what they would do if we just cancelled the Direct Debit though :whistling:

Oh didn't notice just had mentioned that souljacker, my husband had suggested that we do that after the problem last night.

Some Virgin Media packages include Setanta. If you have Virgin then check with them to see if they have any deals on.

We actually find some of the Setanta coverage very good...particularly the lower-league footy matches.

0191 5013601 worked for me first time no waiting, much better than the 08700 number when you spend a fortune just waiting to speak to someone.

Next 3 months at £5, then £12.99 if I don't cancel.

Guy I spoke with is a Boro supporter!

That's what they do brainwash you into staying put don't let them get away with it just cancel. Its a load of rubbish anyway when i had it i never really watched all the football they had some right boring games on.

So did you get it cheaper because he was a Boro fan ?

I just phoned them and told them I want to cancel, they offered me 6 months at £7.50 which I refused and then they offered me 3 months at £5.00 which I again refused. When they asked why I pointed out that they were going to raise the cost by 30%. I have until 10th July to get a letter to them which will be posted tomorrow and I will call them next week to confirm that they recieve the letter. Thanks CO2000 for the heads up
#28
I definately won't pay £12.99. That's a 30% rise ffs!
I'll write the letter and cancel now I think.
#29
Have not recieved a letter yet but looking at all the messages i will have to check bank statement as that is a complete rip off as there is nothing to watch on it most of the time anyway... Will just cancel direct debit with the bank and then they will contact you....

you'd bebetter writing to cancel too or they will just keep billing you

Where on the website does it give an address to write to to cancel in writing? I can't see one. All I found was a webform when enquiring about cancelling (there is loads of info on subscribing but nothing about cancelling - not good) and there is no info on cancelling in the t&cs. Just a small paragraph in the faqs about giving 30 days notice. As far as i'm concerned, an email is good enough.
I've cancelled the DD too, and informed them that I will pay off any balance by chq in the email.
