I'm probably wrong then, I thought when they first started up you had a one off payment before you paid your monthly subscription charges, sorry for any misunderstanding.

Edit just found this on their T&C's
2. Subscription Payments

(a) Unless otherwise agreed you will be charged for the Service from the date your Digibox is enabled to receive the Service under this Contract.
(b) You must pay us Subscription Payments in advance for the Option that you have chosen in your Contract. For Direct Debit, Debit and Credit Card payments we will collect the amount due automatically from your account each month (or as otherwise agreed in your Option) after we have enabled your Viewing Card to receive the Service.
(c) To the extent permitted by Luxembourg laws, we may change your Subscription Payment at any time by giving you at least one month's notice. However, during the Minimum Term, unless it is for a reason set out in Conditions 2(d) or 2(e) we may increase your Subscription Payment only once. Any increase during the Minimum Term will not be more than the greater of: (i) 20%; or (ii) the increase in the United Kingdom Retail Price Index over the last twelve months before we tell you about the price increase.
(d) Your Subscription Payment may change at any time if you change your Option and you will immediately pay the current price for that new Option from the date you change your Option.
(e) We may also increase your Subscription Payment, if required by law or if any regulatory authority requests or requires a change to any aspect of our pricing which affects your Subscription Payment. We may also charge any other payment due under this Contract under your Direct Debit, Debit, or Credit Card instructions together with any other payments which you agree that we may charge under that instruction.
(f) We may alter your Direct Debit, Debit or Credit Card instruction if your Subscription Payment changes for any reason.
(g) We may refuse your application for subscription to the Service based on the results of an assessment of your credit standing using credit searches. We may from time to time assess your credit standing during your subscription; we will apply reasonable practices for the administration of your account based on the result of that credit search, including if we believe it is reasonable applying different payment terms to your account. We may use information from, and supply information to, outside agencies for this credit searching.
(h) A reasonable non-refundable registration fee shall be paid by you with the first Subscription Payment due for the Service under this Contract. Also we can charge a reasonable non-refundable administration fee if you want to change your Service and we allow this.
(i) If you have missed any payments you owe to us, we can suspend provision of the Service without giving you notice. This does not affect our right to end the Contract under Condition 8 below.

I have a Sky Box but only have freeview on it as I'm no longer subscribed. Will I be able to get this for £5 still?

How do you go about cancelling in the first 3 months so that not to take any money thereafter??
#12
mmmm, i not like that, it dosent say how much on there dooes it? i wonder if you are right then? either way, i would have taken it tho, as my hubby wants to see the fight and was willing to pay if it was on ppv.
#13
I think it is £10 looking at this package in Comet for connection and 1 months subscription. That would make it £10 connection fee (as 1 month isusually £9.99)
#14
is that not just for the card tho? as when doing it over net dsent cost them anything? (maybe im just clutching to straws)!!!!!!

You pay for Setanta one month in advance so if you want to cancel dont cancel as soon as they have taken the final payment wait until exactly 30days (you pay 1st Sept to end contract on 30 Oct) as i cancelled 8thSept and they cut me off 8th Oct saying i had given 30 days notice which is the least notice you can give, trying to explain that i had paid until the end of Oct and so they should supply the service was like talking to someone who had had there brain removed. So only 30 days before your contract ends
Plus they charge 10£ connection fee

I was only charged £5, there was an option to pay a connection fee or not pay a connection fee - funnily enough I said not to pay a fee and was therefore only charged £5...

- Me too. I obviously chose not to pay the connection fee and have only been charged £5. Paid by direct debit as I can always cancel under the direct debit guarantee :)
