i finally got it cancelled two months ago & they brought back the one month rule-i rang up and was told sorry you're already cancelling so we cant alter it

i'd avoid Setanta like i would a Gary Glitter After School Club, both seem to have as much respect from the public atm

Avoid Setanta like the plague! They will not let you go once you've got it.

I joined when they started showing premier league football for £9.99 plus the one off £10 fee and was told there was no annual contract and could cancel anytime. Four weeks ago I rang to cancel it. After about 10 minutes of the operator trying to change my mind I was told I had to put it in writing. Funny, I didnt have to apply for it in writing. I sent it recorded delivery to two seperate addresses I had for Setanta and cancelled my direct debit as I just made a payment 2 days before I rang to cancel. That's when the fun started.

I've now had about 15 text messages from them asking me to ring an 0871 number about my account and at least 10 calls to the house which luckily, I've been out everytime they rang except for two days ago when they caught me in. I've now been told there is a 60 day cancellation notice, even though the guy I spoke to when I rang to cancel never once mentioned it, therefore it wont be cancelled until november 23rd. I wasn't told about a 60 day notice when I joined. For new subscribers, it's now 30 days but for those of us they've already had over a years money off, it's 60. I will now be sent 2 bills, one for each month of £12.99 as it is now, plus an extra charge for paying cash rather than direct debit. Plus I'm still getting texts! One more came last night asking me to ring the same 0871 number! Why don't they just RING my mobile! Grrrrr!

Seriously though, avoid them at all costs. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.

Martin on MSE, said that Setanta were much better now for their Customer Service.
I am tempted to go for the Freeview option, but still concerned about the cancellation process.

I notice it became more cancel friendly soon after 15000 England fans sung "We hate Setanta" all the way through the2nd half against Andorra and Croatia.Couldnt of gone down too well with the advertisers.

One of the worst customer services ever ranked alongside Telewest at their worst

i cancelled almost 6 months ago with , i have to say , no fuss or problems at all . However in the last 3 months i now average at least 3 phone calls a week asking me to return . they are a nightmare so much so i'm considering reporting them to BT for nuisance calls

avoid at all costs, i ad the same problem trying to cancel, eventually had to send a letter by recorded delivery which they said hadn't arrived but i obviously had proof that t did.

My mate is now having problems with them. He had hd installed and moved his original box into the bedroom, then suddenly he coudn't get setanta on his hd box, so he rang them only to be told once it has been taken off the viewing card they can't put it back on and he needs to phone sky for a new card:? They were the ones who took t off in the first place!

Been with Setanta for a year and never paid more than a fiver per month. When I call to cancel they just extend the cheap deal. On £5 per month until March next year when I will again call to cancel and have my cheap deal extended. If they do not agree to this I will cancel my direct debit. Setanta is worth it for me at that price, I am a big boxing fan and the coverage is unrivalled at the moment. Calzaghe and Haye fights coming up, SKY would charge £14.99 per fight for that quality of bout.
