I didn't see mention of the free 5 year warrenty on the item page, and when I called Customer Services, they didn't seem to know about it either, but when you purchase, your confirmation email contains all the details:

"To register your free 5 Year Warranty, please purchase your item first. Then, register your details on the registration page and follow the instructions. Upon receipt of your registration, we will activate your 5 Year Warranty and send you a confirmation email, which will state your Warranty cover period and contact details."

Autumn 2006 when these sets were new I recall this 46" model XD1E had a dreadful reputation with a very high percentage of unhappy purchasers returning "banded" and "buzzing" sets.

My folks had the less flawed LC42XD1E but still had to reject one as it had banding though 2nd set was fine.

For my money assuming they have by now ironed out the manufacturing defects/flasw, the NON-HD performance is sub-par for today's marketplace; though HD material is fine on my folks 42.

Great set. Bought mine last christmas and no problems at all. There is very low level buzzing with sound off - but with volume at 2 or above you can't hear it. SD picture is better than on my previous Toshiba or Samsung 40" lcd or Panasonic 42" plasma of friends (they commented on that and not me). Add to that the seriously good HD pictures and it's a bargain 46" TV. Great spot.

Good price, but 2000:1 contrast ratio seems not great.

TRUE 2000:1 is fine, try not to take too much notice of the 'Dynamic' contrast ratio many manufacturers state, it's not the true ratio, and more often than not they just pull a number out of a hat.

Proof?

spenspuma what jukkie says is true, dynamic contrast is worth ignoring, its only the "real" one which matters.

dont have time to frovide a link but am sure the wikki will explain it :)

If 46" is too large for your room, a reminder that the 42" version was posted a few weeks ago here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/217508/lc42xd1ea-42-inch-full-hd-lcd-tv-wi/showthread.php?t=217508

Also, it appears, with free delivery 5 year warrenty. (Don't forget Quidco!)

I did find some links about the 5 year deal in the thread for the 42" model, but the confirmation email directed me to a different link, which I've provided at the start of this deal. What details I've got I've shown in this posting.
