For a 46" LCD TV that's ready for 1080p, take a look a look at the Sharp LC46X20E.

In addition to the larger than average 46" screen, what really marks this TV out is the fact that it's a 1080p LCD for even finer detail. Being a 1080p LCD TV, gives the LC46X20E amazing levels of picture accuracy and stability of image. Other factors make the LC46X20E one of the best 46" LCD televisions that you can buy, too. A contrast ratio of 2000:1 is a stunning result and guarantees deep blacks and an incredible sense of realism. The response time of 4ms also makes the Sharp one of the best LCDs in its class and helps give it super crisp images, especially with fast moving action films and sport. Furthermore, the fast response time and PC input also makes the LC46X20E one of the best LCD TVs for PC.

Other inputs standard on this 46" Sharp LCD flat screen TV include no fewer than 3 HDMI sockets, twin SCART sockets, component and S-Video. Whether you're using digital or analogue, the LC46X20E has the bases covered.

The LC46X20E is another Sharp LCD with Freeview built-in. Thanks to the CI slot you can also take advantage of digital pay services such as the popular Setanta Sport.

The LC46X20E makes just as much of a statement when it comes to style. The improved styling offers the same gloss black surround, sleek pedestal stand and thin frame as Sharp's more expensive models.

Voted Hot, dunno why the cold votes.
Were talking about an 46" here not 40"/42".
Plus it's a well known brand and with Full HD support.

Note that the discount voucher works on items for Home Delivery only, and not Collect @ Store. Some people have had problems using it, and that tends to be why! :)

for some reason some major stores are not selling sharp TV's anymore, maybe why DSG have reduced theirs? I dont know why as i cant find out. Empire direct said they are not selling them anymore.

However if you dont mind this 46" model http://www.sharp.co.uk/XD1-XD10-Full-HD/LC46XD1E-46-inch-Full-HD-LCD-TV/invt/lc46xd1e its £799 but comes with a 5 year Sharp warranty.

£799 certainly seems to be a common price for this model, so maybe they are getting rid of them?

Not this model though, this one is £1299.99 on their website - http://www.sharp.co.uk/X20-B20-HD-1080p-Slimline/LC46X20E-46-inch-HD-Ready-1080P-Slimline-LCD-TV-blacksilver/invt/lc46x20e&bklist=

Strange. When I follow your link I see £799. (with a 5-year warranty) - the £1299 is crossed out and £799 appears beneath it.

But then I think I am registered on the Sharp website with a youatwork discount code. I didn't realise that it would knock off that much off the 'normal' price.

PS The LC52X20E is showing as £999 with the £2099 crossed out.
