I'm not liking these Makro deals. I get all excited then realise I can't actually buy any of them.

I have this player. It's a big old beast, rather noisy, takes an age to load up, and has needed a fair few firmware updates to play all my blu-rays*. But for 30 quid, if you can live with the above, it's a bargain!

* Suppose i should be happy that the updates actually exist! :)

can you play ordinary discs in this?

awful blu ray player....also blu ray profile 1.1 and ethernet port......firmware updates via usb only....a slight pain, mine didnt play alot of new films and wouldnt play walle at all when the blu ray was launched....so i assume firmware updates are slooooooww or useless....had a sony 350 for 4 years....used 2-5 times a week, not ONE problem with the player.......if you buy a player id stick to sony, panasonic or pioneer

oh yes and this player is slooooow, so slow it makes my excellent but slow 350 feel like usain bolt.....you could make and eat a full tin of beans on toastx2 quicker than it gets to the menu

if you want a cheap decent player get the sony 370 from sainsburys for £79 (have one of these as well as the 350)....if they have any left....strangely the 370 feels flimsy compared to the fairly sturdy 350

i guess you mean dvd's....if so all blu rays can play retail dvd's.......if you made the disk then be aware that some may only like certain file formats though as per dvd players

Have both and that simply isn't true. Makro is having a clearance, so expect prices to be back to their silly rates once this is over. Also, I find most of Makro's clearance stock is going to be old tech (hence the clearance maybe?). Some things are a bargain, other's may appear on face value until you realise they're 2 years old! ;)

You know macro's are treated as potential virii by microsoft? Thank god this isn't a Sony Blu-Ray or it might start reversing your living room's contents into the television for the hackers.

Most of the stock is ex-demo and all battered.

None in Preston - only 1 on the shelf at £79.99

Darn none near me, I could do with a blueplayer too. Our ps3 is skipping.
