I presume its a misprint in Makro MAIL(EDIT I mean the product code is a misprint BP instead of BD). Seems to £99 everyhwhere else just now. This deal appears to be local possibly store specific to Hillington but is now in the new Makro Mail with a date of 9/9/2009-22/9/2009 so it should be nationwide by then.

PLEASE NOTE ORIGINAL POSTER HAS NOT STATED PROPERLY IN THE TITLE THREAD, THIS OFFER IS DEFINITELY STORE SPECIFIC TO THE HILLINGTON BRANCH UNTIL TUESDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2009. AFTER THIS THE OFFER WILL BE VALID IN STORES NATIONWIDE FROM WEDNESDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER 2009 AS PER MAKRO MAILER 20 ADVERT OF WHICH IS ON PAGE 6.

Can anyone shop at makro or only the wholesellers?
I was told you have to have some membership card to gain entry in to the store?

You need to be VAT registered or work for a VAT registered company that will allow you to apply for a membership card

Yes unfortunately you do need a membership card.

You can blag it though. I forgot my card once and just had to fill in a form for a temporary 1 day membership. No details checked or anything like that. Just make it up on the form.

I snagged a bargain last week in currys. A sony bdps350 for £49.99. It pays to keep an eye out for clearance sales with these blu ray players but you have to be lucky.

Makro back in the day were so easy to sign up. Used to have a company but dont anymore still i get my membership renewed every year no questions asked.
So can anyone confirm if this is avalaible yet?
#14
What proof would i need that i work for a company that is vat registered?
#15
I received one of these free and it's served me really well. Certainly can't fault it for basic Blu Ray playback, other than the tray taking a little while to open when the machine is first powered on.

And to be honest, I wasn't expecting to buy a Blu Ray player to upscale DVDs, but DTS HD MA would be nice, though this device is ample for those of us who aren't churning out a 5.1 system (or care not for the DTS).

Yer I've heard this, but when I forgot my card they did check my details. I must look shifty or something:oops:

Its in Makro mail 19 offers from 26th August to 8th September. On the inside front cover actually looking at it it looks like this is an extra over wrap on the outside of the booklet- thicker paper and not numbered . It has a JVC 42" FULLHD for 499.99 and a swisstec 22" with built in dvd for 99.99 on the front thought it looked quite good too.
#19
cheap i guess as its profile 1.1 and not upgradeable....

Good price - bad deal. Not everyone can shop there realistically unless they're a trader or a business. Would be a good deal on HotUKTradersDeals if it existed. Voted cold, sorry.
#22
I did think about that before I posted but Makro deals are allowed and if the information benefits some users surely its worth posting. Many deals are limited some geographically some by user so you just have to look for ones you can take advantage of.
#23
A Blu-ray player under £50, now if only the price of blu-ray dices would drop a little it would be worth replacing all the DVDs.
#24
Hot from me.

I got this player and very happy with it. Its only 1.1 but thats fine as I just want to watch movies and not bothered about downloadable extras.

You don't need to be VAT registered. I'm self employed and they just asked for some form of ID and 2 invoices for shopping that I make for my business. They are not VAT invoices, so VAT you can claim back if you are VAT registered, but it is your choice if you are under 60k annual turnover

In makro exeter this model is £99.99 plus vat = £115 what a rip for a old player , i would have had one for £50 , but they can whistle if they want £115 for one.

Can confirm this deal is NOT on.
Went into local Makro today (Enfield) as they always put out the Makro mail offers a day early.
The player was £99.99 and was no were to be seen in the Makro mail guide. I asked one of the nice chaps that worked there and said the player was £59.99 2 weeks ago and in 2 weeks time should go back down to that price again. So the player is there but not for £49.99.
Also Makro has never been a store specific type of place, so if it is avaliable at other stores il be suprised.

Plenty in Hillington this morning

Hillington is my local branch so it could have been a local promo I suppose although it didn't say so.
#32
Just popped into the Hillington branch after seeing the update to the thread and got a couple, one for me one for my dad, £49.99 each :D Also, on the shelf above the pile of boxes (still plenty) you'll find a little stack of CDs which claim to have a firmware update for the machines, so don't forget to grab one of them for your machine.
#33
Anyone been to the park royal branch and seen if this is there?
#34
I went to the Queensferry/Deeside store on Friday and theyt were £99.99 plus VAT

I dont think they do either.

Go to a till, ignore the label price or staff member as all they will do is read the shelf price.

I went to the B'ham store today, priced at £99.99 + VAT on the shelf, took the player to one of the instore price scanners, was the same price at £99.99 + VAT so would also assume that it would scan at the till at £99.99 + VAT.....this to me confirms that the offer was store specific.

the offer does not start until Wednesday 9th September - Had Makro mail through this morning with the sale date.
I go to the Halesowen store and they reduce their stock prioces Tuesday afternoon/evening

Hope this helps.

Same here, my wife had the mail through at her work yesterday with the offer on, this thread was clearly store specific..I scanned at Halesowen a player the other day and it was 99.99, obviously it will be reduced on 9th September, although will try popping into store on the tuesday evening to see if they are reduced then.
