I think he means that because Freeview HD has been announced (at last), and is available to a few people in the UK already, then buying a Freeview box that ISNT HD will be pointless as it won't be able to record the Freeview HD that most people don't get :whistling:

http://www.pvrjunction.co.uk/category/hi-def/

(Not to be confused with Freesat+ HD of course, the free satellite setup for EVERYONE in the country that want a meagre diet of BBC HD and occasional ITV HD now).

Freeview is launching it's High Definition (HD) service within the next few weeks. The existing generation of Freeview boxes, recorders and integrated Freeview TVs (including all the HD ones) do not support Freeview HD.

So, if you've got a HD/HD Ready TV and you want to receive Freeview HD you'll have to buy another box soon to do it.

...but if the usual pattern continues you'll have to:

- wait for the bugs to be ironed out in the new boxes
- pay the premium for being an early adopter

I think it was the word "Realised" that threw me.
Did he mean "Released"?

The FreeviewHD is coming out, but it will be expensive and the technology new and as such it will take a while for the teething problems to be ironed out. The box's that come out next month will just be standalone receivers the recorders (pvrs) are not expected till easter and these will be even more expensive.

The deal that I have posted is for those that do not have one already, and would like to have the freeview+ functionality for a quite reasonable price.
