According to these people who own them and the reviews it seems that Sharp are still one of the major brands. Seems a good buy at this price.

I've got the Sharp LC26AD5E and its brilliant, had it over a year now and cant fault it, if this 32 is made to the same standard then its a bargain. Paid more for my one now this time last year than this!

Sharp are one of the biggest brands in Japan and very highly rated.

I got this TV in ASDA a few months ago for £312 with my staff discount (thank God uni saved me from that place) and I use it with my 360 in VGA mode. Despite being picky with the VGA resolutions (supported resolutions are listed in the manual, I set my 360 to 1366x768 in the end and it looks lovely), I have no complaints so far and it performs quite nicely and this is a highly respectable price.

As long as nobody comes in here and says, 'but sharp aren't as good as sony' reliability wise:

http://www.moneymorning.com/2008/02/27/sharp-and-sony-link-up-in-joint-venture-to-make-lcd-panels-for-burgeoning-flat-panel-tv-market/

Sony worry me more. With some panels made by Sharp, others by Samsung, you aren't actually sure what you are buying unless you don't get a Sony!

Has it got VGA/PC input?
The spec says digital tuner - No but the description says it has?
Would someone please confirm the correct spec please. Thanks

It's worth noting that the "panel" that is shared is actually a small element of the whole screen - there is a sandwhich effect for screen construction and the LCD part of it is generic (so can be made by a number of companies). The clever part is the filters, back light, processing, polarisers etc. And then you've got the electronics.

It's not as clear cut as to say that Samsung tv's have the same panel (meaning screen) as Sony tv's or Sharp tv's or Panasonic etc. They might share a common element, but its not really any different to saying that a BMW has the same engine as a VW just because they use the same alternator (they don't, I just made that up as an example).
