Buy the TV for £449 and get the £245 blu-ray player 100% FREE!

Got this yesterday - awesome. its 1080p on the TV and a nice looking model.

Dont be fooled by the site saying out of stock in your branch. It said that for my local and I even called (twice and spoke to 2 different people) and they said they had the TV but no blu-ray players.

its this blu-ray:

Yet in I went, and they had both, so I snapped it up!

Don't get me wrong, good deal - I am look for a tv at the moment - but the freebie won't help me on this one as I have a PS3 - but it does annoy me the inflated price of the freebie - on laskys.com its only £149.99? £199.99 @ empiredirect.

Good deal if you are in the market for one, like I say, just annoying they give away something already overpriced.

What a load of rubbish, I have a 40" Sony LCD that isn't 24p and my blu-rays play smooth as

This deal is **** though....Sharp is an average brand so better buying the Sony 32" LCD that can be bought for around £300 to £330 and then get a blu-ray elsewhere...play.com do a samsung blu-ray for £130

Typical. Just because it isn't regarded as a top brand means it's a terrible TV?

Try doing some research and you will find this is a very highly rated 32" full 1080p TV.

sold by the 1080p muppet marketing brigade.....you dont need 1080p on a 32in screen, (unless perhaps you are using it as a pc monitor...you will not notice the difference even with blu ray films on a screen this size

can it do descent pc resolution?????? pixel mapping and so forth????

lol ignorance is bliss....sony are average too......your sony lcd will prob use either a samsung or sharp panel anyway (made in partnership with sony).....sure there is more to a tv than just the panel.

Only problem is they don't deliver to N.Ireland
I called them about a camcorder last week & the dummy that answered the phone kept asking for my postcode. He said we use parcelforce & they don't deliver in your area ok well the parcelforce vans that go up & down the road past my house must be a figment of my imagination :?

Lol, like I'm sure everyone else will say... Not the most clever statement. Sharp invented LCD in the early 90s (or was it the late 80's?) and their sets are usually more expensive than everyone else's because there's tend to be the most refined sets. All the other manufacturers use there's, or Samsungs or LG's panels.

I never said it was a terrible TV......I also think of things like re-sale value, it's a common fact a Sony holds it's value more than a cheap brand. So my point is if you had to choose between a Sony or a Sharp for the same price then the Sony is a better option. Plus the Sony's have much better sound and styling

Highly rated LCD TV has higher re-sale value than average rated LCD TV, your point is now non existant.

Also, styling is completly opinionated.

BTW Sharp maintains a sizable lead in the overall LCD TV market in Japan against Sony with its market share at 49.4% compared to Sony's 23.8%. LOL

They also produce the largest sizes along with Samsung (65"+), I believe Panasonic are the plasma experts along with Pioneer. Sony sort of just dip into all markets because of their brand recognition but tend to borrow technology from the big three panel makers.

Just my opinion, I am a huge Sony fan as they have never let me down so I will always buy Sony, Sharp has always been seen as a cheap brand like Alba and Bush to me...

anyone got any links to reviews on this TV?
More specifically is it prone to ghosting? Good for fast pictures, sports etc?

and the debate regarding lcd technology rumbles on.......................

"i could watch a 200 inch screen using a composite video connection from my mobile phone, sitting 1 foot away, head tilted at 45 degrees to the left - not to the right like some of you plasma lovers - and think damn it as if i am actually in the video being viewed, its like i am actually living the dream, I AM A STAR! i dont need 1080P with 24p (or whatever) and 200hz motion sea sickness viagra technology..................damn these cataracts.............................."

technology improves slightly month by month it seems. the companies and press slAgzs label it something, and we will either champion it or say pointless application.

stick to canaries in the mines, still works, why change it and try to improve it - ignorance? who cares...........sony would be better even if they moulded poooooo in to the shape of a tv and engraved "poo - do not buy its not a tv" - people would still buy it and say this model is the best tv out there.

im exactly the same, i think no matter what sony are craaaap. im looking for a 52" lcd with 24p and 100hz and 1080p - most likely a samsung, i dont care if none of these will make a difference to the picture - i think they will - and finally plasma is shiiiiiiiit old technology, heavy units and i do believe they smell of rotting flesh................

"i always look at the re-sale value when buying!"

WHAT?!

With that post you have proved how little you know about LCDs. In fact, saying you are a huge Sony fan makes your post embarassing.

I know Sharp produce decent TVs, certainly comparable to Sony. However its tough to really say for sure which one better as you get differing opinions.

But, saying because you are a Sony fan instantly makes Sharp a poor brand is laughable. Also, comparing Sharp to Alba and Bush is actually REALLY embarassing for you.
#27
People FFS can we please stop having the This brand is better than this brand debate in EVERY new LCD tv thread.there really is no need and it is just tiring and pathetic now. Lets just stick to the Item at hand. If you have no experience of the item DON'T TRASH IT.

This is a SHARP tv, Not a SONY tv and frankly no-one really cares if you in particular think sony are a better brand UNLESS you are comparing on a first hand basis; this tv to a similarly priced sony one!

How good is the SHARP LC32DH66E?
Can anyone provide any links to reviews?
does anyone have any first hand experiance of the TV that could answer some questions about the quality of the panel, whether or not it ghosts or whther or not it is good for watching fast moving image, I.E Sport?

for want of a better word you sound like a 'tech fashion victim' ;-)
Sony are well known for overpriced kit and their obsession with trying to bring in new formats that end up failing, more than quality, not saying they dont make quality but they made their reputation for good TVs in the 1980s and early1990s then dropped the ball. They struggled a bit as LCDs and Plasmas took off, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic and even JVC and Philips have had higher rated TVs in the last 5 years. Today they are all much of a muchness, LCDs have their native faults but can't go wrong with any of the 'top' brands I've mentioned. Good luck to Sony if OLED makes a big imapct though, unlike blu-ray.

I think he means he doesnt want the TV to stretch the resolutiuon coming from the GFX card if it isn't a perfect match.

Sharp screen **** all over Sony tat

i'm more than happy with my sharp 26" in the conservatory and i have a pioneer kuro in the living room so i know what an amazing screen looks like

more than happy with it so far. a decent tv both technically and aesthetically.

3 hdmi ports is handy. only thing i will note is its not a swivel stand, but hey, small price to pay for a bargain.

Your TV most probably does have 24p then and you don't realise it. What model is it? I guarantee, if you're watching a bluray in 1080p without 24p support you will notice judder on panning shots and fast movement. It's easier to notice when the credits are scrolling.

Sorry OP - dont mean to ruin your thread.

sharp have been around for donkeys years though. just because its not up there in marketing standards with sony and panasonic doesnt mean that alba, bush, wharfdale etc are inferior brands likely to let you down.

my last TV was a wharfdale and never did a thing wrong over several years.

No offense Zootaga, but you are exactly why advertisements and advertising work so effectively.
They have made you feel a certain way about a brand.

Even good brands like Mercedes occasionally bring out bad products.

Check the specs, read reviews, do some research.

Sony in the Trinitron days were really good, but times have changed. You cannot rely on a particular piece of equipment just because a certain company manufactures it.

For eg. LG cannot understand why UK consumers think LG = Saisho/Alba etc.
LG is the largest panel seller in Europe, they have some of the best technology and if your read about them you will realise why, they are friggin HUGE!

All those years of flashy TV adverts have made us brand snobs, but without it actually relating to product performance or quality. Sony I am afraid are manufacturing strictly average TV's, and I would personally pay the extra for a Pioneer or Panasonic, or spend the same and get an LG which would be a better panel.
