This is a great price for a 42" 1080P LCD TV with Freeview HD - I can't find any other similar 42" TVs with Freeview HD around this price (though there is a LG 42LD450 model with no Freeview HD for £3… Read More

This is a great price for a 42" 1080P LCD TV with Freeview HD - I can't find any other similar 42" TVs with Freeview HD around this price (though there is a LG 42LD450 model with no Freeview HD for £399 out of stock at amazon).

Its incorrectly listed as a LC40CT2E (which is a similar 40" model) in the title but everywhere else including the model number and specification confirm that it is really a LC42CT2E (it also states it is a 42" inch TV in the title).

Also includes USB video playback and 24p cinema mode.

Please don't vote cold unless you can find something that is better or the same for cheaper!

That place lists the ex.vat price so its actually £492.27! The next cheapest price that has it in stock and no delivery charge is Ebuyer at £469.99

How does this compare to the £399 LG?

This has Freeview HD and USB video playback unlike the LG. It also has one extra HDMI port and looks a bit nicer than the LG.

That's your website isn't it. Pretty obvious as every deal you post is a) a TV b) links to this website.

Sharp, like Toshiba, a great name from the past.

http://www.sharp.co.uk/cps/rde/xbcr/documents/documents/Marketing/Datasheet/pdf_DS_Datasheet_LC42CT2E_en_gb.pdf this TV doesn't supprot 24p mode and will not play movies from USB!
Lots of confusing informations.
Also, the model name on the website is 40-inch...
Voted cold.

I think they're more of a name from the present than you might think. They make panels for other japanese manufacturers beginning with 'S' ;). They have a lower profile than many other manufacturers now but that doesn't necessarily mean their new products are no good.

Sharp are a good brand and they do make lcd panels for other big manufacturers. I bought a Sharp lcd for gaming/movies last year after extensive research. I've been very impressed since it came out the box, especially the lack of motion blur which plagued the more expensive Sony models I'd consider. Besides a microwave I'd never purchased a Sharp product but would definitely recommend them now.
