=================================

This is an amazing price for the 42" 1080p LCD TV. I paid £1500 just over 3 months ago for this.

Cracking TV - but think TheBIGMan got done when he bought his. As I also got mine a little over three months ago for about £850 from EmpireDirect (even less when Quidco is factored in).

I think its only the 46" and 52" that suffers from banding - I have this set and its great. Paid £1125 inc 3 year warranty in January.

No this 42" CAN suffer from banding - which obviously makes it a faulty/not-merchantable-quality reject.

My folks paid £1100 for one just before last Xmas and first one had 3" wide bands/stripes at left/right edges of screen which were a different shade of colour to the rest of the screen. EmpireDirect swapped it out promptly and second set no such fault and brilliant set when fed from a Virgin Media+ box via HDMI.

If I had any HD sources I'd be very tempted by this (or 46" version) though not sure about this specific price/source - eg ED do 3yrs warranty for not very much.

Just wanted to say

I saw one of these in a local Comet store running bluray casino royale and it was STUNNING, head and shoulders above every other TV there

(Although not all of them will have been properly setup)

I bought one of these (well, the XD1E version) about 5 months ago, and yes, both sets had bad banding on them, together with a weird high pitched noise both when the set was on and off. Needless to say it was returned.

If the OP bought one of these for £1500 3 months ago, he was ripped off big time, as they were cheaper than the £1200 I paid, it's just that I got a 5 year warranty with mine.

Not a recommended panel until they sort out the issues with them.

ive got one, mates got one, both the 42" model, not a sign of banding, buzzing or any other problem people have mentioned on avforums - mine cost £1080 in jan (hehe 1080P and £1080 Pounds - i liked that :) ) mates cost £900 last month empire direct pick up same day :) perfect tv's spot on for movies and gaming - 360 via 1080P HDMI is stunning. 100% recommended by me :)
